Queen Maxima and King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands' family's annual summer photo session will no longer be taking place this week. It has instead been postponed until later this month. The Dutch Royal House revealed the date change in an update about Their Majesties' daughter Princess Catharina-Amalia, who fell from her horse on June 10. In the update, the Royal House shared that the Princess of Orange underwent surgery on Tuesday evening for a "fracture in her upper arm."

"The surgery went well. She will remain in the UMC Utrecht for monitoring until tomorrow," the Royal House stated (translated to English), adding, "The summer photo session planned for Thursday morning, June 12 at Paleis Huis ten Bosch has been postponed to June 30 for this reason. The agenda of Her Majesty Queen Máxima for Wednesday, June 11 has also been adjusted for this reason. She will not be present at the CGAP congress in Amsterdam. In addition, His Majesty the King will be present at the opening of the Holland Festival without Queen Máxima."

The Dutch Royal House announced on Tuesday that the King and Queen's 21-year-old daughter broke her arm while horse riding. "The Princess of Orange broke her upper arm today after falling from her horse. She will undergo surgery at the UMC Utrecht," the Royal House said in a statement translated to English. "More information will follow as soon as it becomes clear what the possible consequences are for official obligations and other agreements."

The Royal House's website notes that the Princess "enjoys horse riding" in her free time. In the book Amalia, the heir to the Dutch throne told author Claudia de Breij (translated to English), “I am most who I am on a horse. If you really want to get to know me, you have to see me ride.”

Amalia has previously fallen off her horse and dislocated her shoulder, per Libelle. Recalling the injury to Claudia via Libelle, the Princess said, "I fell off my horse. And I always know very well: it's okay, or it's not okay. And this was really not okay."

The King and Queen's firstborn also told the Amalia author that "Normally you always check first if your horse is okay. That goes without saying. You don't let your trainer wash your horse either, you have to do that yourself, because you build a bond. If you don't take care of your horse yourself, you don't have the right to ride it. But yes, dislocated arm, sprained ankle, ambulance... so that really wasn't possible."

Princess Catharina-Amalia added, "You know what they say, right: 'You're not an Amazon until you've fallen seven times.'"
