The Danish Royal House has officially released new portraits of King Frederik and Queen Mary's twins. The new official photos of Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, taken by photographer Steen Evald, were shared on Friday, May 30.
Alongside the images, the Royal House noted that "it is a tradition that new official portraits of the members of the Royal Family are produced at regular intervals," adding that the "portraits are used by the Royal House in various official contexts."
Josephine was photographed wearing a light blue Sandro top (via New My Royals). Vincent complemented his sister wearing a button-down shirt in a similar shade under a checked blazer. The 14-year-old twins posed for individual portraits, as well as one photo together. In the comments, some social media users pointed out the resemblance between Josephine and her mother, Mary.
"How Josephine looks like her mother🥰," one commented, while another, referencing the King's late father, wrote: "Princess Josephine looks a lot like her mother and Prince Vincent looks like Prince Henrik ❤️."
The siblings are Mary and Frederik's youngest children. Vincent is third in line to the throne, followed by his twin sister Josephine, who is fourth. The duo turned 14 back in January. The Royal House marked their birthday with the release of photos that were taken on New Year's Eve.
In addition to Vincent and Josephine, the King and Queen are also parents to 19-year-old son Crown Prince Christian and 18-year-old daughter Princess Isabella. In Frederik's first New Year's address, the royal dad of four spoke about being a father to teenagers. His Majesty said, "As the parents of four teenagers, Mary and I have learnt that it does help to listen. To ask questions without making assumptions. To give a hug instead of taking immediate action."
"Our children are different. So are young people. There is not one story that captures everybody’s identity. We get the best idea of who young people are by letting them speak, each individually," the King added. "Time and again they impress us with their understanding of themselves and of others. In my eyes, they are courageous. Because they dare show vulnerability and see it as a strength. Today’s young people accept themselves for what they are. You dare to be both/and. Both vulnerable and strong."
Josephine and Vincent, along with their big sister Isabella, mom Mary and grandmother Queen Margrethe, appeared on the balcony of Frederik VIII's Palace in Amalienborg on May 26 to celebrate Frederik's 57th birthday. Missing from the family affair was Crown Prince Christian, who began his military service at the Guard Hussar Regiment (Gardehusarregimentet) this past February.
