Meghan Markle didn't rule out the possibility of starting her own fashion line in a new interview. When asked by Fast Company if she might explore a clothing business, the Duchess of Sussex revealed, “The category of fashion is something I will explore at a later date, because I do think that’s an interesting space for me."
In the meantime, fans of the Duchess' style can shop pieces that the mom of two has worn via her Shop My page. "A handpicked and curated collection of the things I love — I hope you enjoy them!" her page states.
Back when Meghan was a working member of the British royal family, she championed the launch of a capsule collection in support of the charity organization Smart Works, which she became patron of in 2019. The Smart Set capsule collection featured a shirt, trousers, blazer, dress and tote bag. The palace shared at the time that Meghan wanted to collaborate on collection with Smart Works and ensure that the charity's clients were equipped with the skills and clothes they need to feel job-ready.
While the Duchess shared that fashion is something she will explore at a later time, Fast Company noted that for now, Meghan "believes it makes sense to build a brand around a single idea." She told Fast Company, "My heart is very deeply in my home," adding, "Everything comes from being rooted in the love story of your home and garden, and then you can imagine different verticals coming out of that."
Two weeks before the premiere of her Netflix show With Love, Meghan, the Duchess unveiled her brand As ever. "As Ever essentially means as it’s always been, and if you’ve followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I’ve always loved cooking and crafting and gardening. This is what I do. And I haven’t been able to share it with you in the same way for the past few years, but now I can," the Duchess said in a video announcement. She also wrote on Instagram that "this new chapter is an extension of what has always been my love language, beautifully weaving together everything I cherish — food, gardening, entertaining, thoughtful living, and finding joy in the everyday."
Meghan's first As ever collection dropped in early April. The debut collection, which sold out in under an hour, included raspberry spread, herbal lemon ginger tea, herbal peppermint tea, herbal hibiscus tea, flower sprinkles, crêpe mix, shortbread cookie mix with flower sprinkles and limited-edition wildflower honey with honeycomb. In addition to her brand and Netflix series, Meghan also launched a new podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, this year. The Duchess admitted to Fast Company that if she had to write a résumé, she wouldn't know what to call herself. “I think it speaks to this chapter many of us find ourselves in, where none of us are one note," Meghan said. "But I believe all the notes I am playing are part of the same song.”
