Raphaël Elmaleh joined his mom Charlotte Casiraghi at the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix. The 11 year old looked all grown up at the F1 racing event on Saturday and Sunday with his chic mother, sporting sunglasses, a khaki Ralph Lauren jacket over a button-down shirt and pants on both days.
Raphaël is Charlotte's older child, whom she shares with comedian Gad Elmaleh. He was born in December of 2013.
PEOPLE confirmed in 2015 that Charlotte and Gad had split after three years. “It’s sad,” a source close to the couple told the magazine at the time. “Mostly, this is a couple that drifted apart over their careers."
The source added, "He wasn't around enough – and she wanted a father for her son."
While he and Charlotte were no longer together, Gad told WWD in 2016 that he and Princess Caroline's older daughter "stay close." Asked if Charlotte was in New York with him, the comedian replied, “No, they’re in Europe. I go there a lot to see my family. I go to see my child. Me and Charlotte are not together any more but I go to see my baby. He also comes to see me. We stay close. We are a family.”
Charlotte married film producer Dimitri Rassam in June of 2019. Less than a year before her wedding, Charlotte welcomed her second child Balthazar Rassam in October 2018. Voici reported in January 2024 that Prince Albert of Monaco's niece and Dimitri were separating, and that Charlotte was the one who decided to initiate the separation.
A source told Voici that “Dimitri, who has become one of the biggest French producers, spends his time working. They had no family life, it was heavy for her.”
Charlotte spoke about motherhood in a 2022 interview with Town & Country, admitting that it was "very hard to sum up" the biggest challenges of motherhood. The mom of two said, “I think every day has hard and amazing moments. Every day you go through moments when you worry for your children or when they exhaust you, and then you go through moments when you share so much with them and you don’t even question the fact that they’re the most important thing in your life.”
In addition to Balthazar, Raphaël has a brother, Noé Elmaleh, on his father's side, who is Gad's first child. It was reported last year that Charlotte's ex Gad had become a grandfather with the arrival of Noé and Johanna Marques' daughter Ely.
