Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi share precious first photo of newborn daughter Athena

The proud dad gushed that the baby is "tiny and absolutely perfect"

It's another girl! Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have welcomed a second daughter named Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi. The announcement of her arrival came seven days after her birth, accompanied by a precious photo of the newborn wrapped in a pink blanket and covering her face with one of her hands.

In a statement on Jan. 29, Buckingham Palace said, "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on Wednesday, 22nd January, at 12:57pm, at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London."

"The baby was born weighing 4 pounds and 5 ounces," the palace added. "Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of The Royal Family have all been informed and are delighted with the news."

It was announced back in October that the Princess and her husband were expecting their second child together in the early spring. The baby joins the couple's three-year-old daughter Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi and Edo's son, Christopher Woolf, from a previous relationship.

Proud dad Edo took to his Instagram on Wednesday to share the news of his third child's arrival. Alongside the same sweet photo of Athena that was shared by the palace, he penned: "We welcomed Baby Athena into our lives last week. She is tiny and absolutely perfect. We are all (including Wolfie and Sienna) already completely besotted with her. Our hearts are overflowing with love for you, baby Athena. 💕"

Edoardo added, "A massive thank you from my wife and I goes out to all the wonderful staff at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their exceptional care and support during this incredibly special time. 🙏🏼🩷👼."

Athena is Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's fourth grandchild—their younger daughter Princess Eugenie has two sons, August Brooksbank and Ernest Brooksbank. Beatrice's mother celebrated the announcement of her second granddaughter's birth, writing on Instagram, "Overflowing with love and joy to be able to welcome Athena Elizabeth Rose into the world."

"She is already so adored and I’m incredibly blessed to be a Granny once again," Sarah continued. "So proud of Edo, Beatrice and the rest of my little 5-a-side team! ❤️."

Baby Athena is eleventh in line to the throne, after her big sister Sienna, who is tenth.
