For more than two decades, Adriana Medina-Baez has infused the world of perfumery with her talent, creating scents that are as unique and bold as she is. The Colombian is undoubtedly a source of Latin pride in this industry, serving as the Vice President of Perfume at Givaudan, one of the world's leading fragrance companies headquartered in Switzerland.

Adriana began her professional studies with a bachelor's in Biology at Montclair State University in New Jersey. After earning her master's degree in Cosmetic Science at Fairleigh Dickinson University, she attended Givaudan's Perfumery School in 2000, marking her entry into the industry's fascinating world.

"I combine my love for science with my deep love for nature; my homeland Colombia is a country rich in natural splendor, and it is always a source of inspiration for me."

She started working as a lab technician and a perfumer's assistant, roles that gave her invaluable experience in blending scientific rigor with creative instinct. Her rise was quick: After graduating, she became a Junior Perfumer and earned the full title of Perfumer in 2004, taking on projects for brands such as Christian Audigier and Anthropologie.

Her undeniable talent led her to become a Senior Perfumer in 2011, culminating in her current executive position as Vice President Perfumer at Givaudan's New Jersey office. Her career reflects her expertise in the olfactory arts and her leadership as a top executive.

At the close of 2024, Adriana reflected on her journey, which she has balanced with motherhood. "This year I celebrated 30 years in this fascinating industry and 24 years as a perfumer. 20 years in Fine Fragrances (same as my son Diego). He was a baby when I decided to move to New York for a career change. At first, it was crazy, but it was absolutely worth it. He has been my greatest support in balancing being a working mother and doing it all. A very special and enormous thank you to Givaudan for allowing me to work in a field I adore."

"Remember to live with purpose, love your life, wake up each day with a grateful heart, and love the people around you. Especially those who love your light and shine brightly."

Among Adriana's long and successful "repertoire" of fragrances are Victoria's Secret Bombshell (2010), Lancôme Idôle (2019) and its flankers (L'Intense, Aura), as well as collaborations with Bath & Body Works, including an award-winning collection in 2018. She has also created scents for pop icons such as Katy Perry (Meow) and Gwen Stefani (Harajuku Lovers Wicked Style – Music), showcasing her versatility across all levels of the market and, above all, her ability to connect with consumers.

However, Medina-Baez's impact goes beyond her exquisite creations. As Givaudan's Vice President, she also plays a strategic role in steering the direction of the perfumery business in the United States. With her vast experience in perfumery as science, art, and industry, Adriana often shares insights in forums such as the CEW Beauty Insider Series.

Over the years, Adriana Medina-Baez has proven that her iconic, character-filled creations go far beyond fleeting trends that often influence the perfume world. Her work has become a true example of the perfect balance between technical mastery and creativity.
