No one can deny the place that Belinda has earned in the Latin American music and television industries. Her hit songs and beloved characters are ingrained in the memory of an entire generation, who used to watch her shows and then her music videos as they grew up alongside her. Now, Belinda is captivating a new audience with fresh projects. Her latest album, "Indómita," and her leading role in the TV show "Mentiras" have been pivotal highlights of her year.
Born in Madrid on August 15, 1989, Belinda is the daughter of Spanish businessman José Ignacio Peregrín and French-Spanish Belinda Schüll. She lived in Spain until 1993, when her family relocated to Mexico City, where she began her primary education.
Her undeniable charisma and talent led her to land the lead role in the children’s telenovela "Amigos X Siempre," marking not only her television debut but also her entry into the music world, recording several tracks for the show’s soundtrack. That success launched her as a child star, and she followed it with appearances in "Aventuras en el Tiempo" and "Cómplices al Rescate."
“Inspiring other women, that’s my purpose right now. To represent Mexico with pride, to be empathetic, to set a strong example, and to be someone that people can always count on, especially women.”
At just 13 years old, Belinda released her self-titled debut album, which became a massive commercial success thanks to tracks like "Lo Siento," "Boba Niña Nice," "Ángel," and "Vivir." She went on to release five more albums: "Utopía" (2006), "Carpe Diem" (2010), "Catarsis" (2013), and "Indómita" (2025). Her discography includes iconic songs like "Muriendo Lento," "Luz Sin Gravedad," "En la Obscuridad," "Bella Traición," "Egoísta," and "Dopamina."
Her latest release has become her most-streamed album to date, surpassing 300 million plays on Spotify. Featuring collaborations with artists like Kenia OS, Natanael Cano, and Xavi, the record is also among the top-streamed Latin albums of the year on the platform.
Belinda’s television career has been equally dynamic. After a cameo in "Baywatch" alongside Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron in 2017, she joined the cast of the Netflix Spanish series "Bienvenidos al Edén" in 2022. In 2024, she portrayed Paola Durante in "¿Quién Lo Mató?," a gripping drama about the murder of Mexican TV host Paco Stanley. This year, she's back with "Mentiras," another series.
“It’s important to remind people that we don’t have to be perfect. Life has its highs and lows — we need to enjoy the ride and learn from every moment.”
Beyond scripted roles, Belinda has also made a name for herself in the reality TV scene. She served as a coach on "La Voz México" (2019) and "La Voz Kids" (2021) and participated in "Divina Comida México" (2022) and "La Más Draga" (2023). She has also made special appearances in hit shows like "Patito Feo" (2007) and "Mujeres Asesinas" (2010).
Belinda’s dedication to her craft has earned her numerous awards and honors. Recently, she won Best Music Video for "La Cuadrada" at the World Film Festival in Cannes and received accolades at the Vienna Shorts Film Festival for "La Mala." She’s also taken home several Premios Juventud and Premio Lo Nuestro awards, and has been nominated multiple times for the Latin GRAMMYs.
