Melania has transformed Mexico City's vibrant and contrasting backdrops into the perfect habitat for her artistic expression. What began as a playful visual experiment has evolved into a success story on social media, drawing a growing audience that's captivated by her original style and daring creativity.

Melania graduated with a Fashion and Textile Design degree from CENTRO University in Mexico City. She deepened her artistic journey at the prestigious Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Belgium. After her return from Europe, around 2016, her project began to take shape—something she recalled in an interview with the art blog Gaze Mag.

"Even though I don't love the idea of boxing myself into a single concept or title, I'd describe myself as a creative being, guided by exploration in all its possible forms."

Back in Mexico, long walks through the city sparked the idea to turn the urban contrasts around her into fashion narratives. That's when she began mixing garments, using herself as the model. Her work includes collecting, altering, and even designing clothes to achieve a seamless blend with the urban landscapes that she chooses to interact with.

While she often blends so well into her surroundings that she becomes part of murals, facades, art installations, or any space that intrigues her, Melania fully knows that her looks are meant to be seen—and she loves it.

She enjoys subverting the traditional rules of fashion and design, pushing against the norm. It keeps her sharp, alive, and submitting herself through a process of constant reinvention. "It's fun for me to go against the grain when it comes to fashion, design, and style. It keeps me creatively active and always on my toes," she said.

"This project has become a deeply personal creative process that I enjoy every moment of. It constantly challenges my creativity and helps me push past limits—mixing textures, colors, trends, and silhouettes in both art and fashion."

That bold approach and creative freedom are deeply rooted in the support Melania received since she was a kid. Her family encouraged her to grow independently and explore who she was without limits. "They pushed me to develop myself beyond what was expected, and gave me full freedom to find the personality, way of being, and dressing that made me happy," she said.

Today, Melania wears many hats in the fashion world. She's a stylist, a teacher, fashion journalist, and a creative director. Through Matching Melania, she's not just designing outfits—she's creating moments of visual poetry on the streets of Mexico and inviting everyone to rethink what fashion once it becomes part of the city itself.
