Aimee Sandimés Garcia López de Ordóñez was born in Chicago, Illinois to a Mexican mother and Puerto Rican father. As a child, she started acting in commercials before participating in theater when she was seven years old. While in high school, Aimee took acting classes at Piven Theatre Workshop before appearing in local plays and musicals during her time in college.

Garcia attended Northwestern University, where she triple majored in economics, journalism, and French. After graduating, she quit acting for a year and worked in finance for a mutual fund analyst in Brooklyn, New York. That didn‘t last long though, as Aimee was unsatisfied with her job, so she moved to Los Angeles, California, around 2002 to pursue a career in acting.

Once she made her way to LA, she landed a role in the Disney Channel original movie Cadet Kelly in 2002. She also co-starred alongside Anthony Anderson in The WB sitcom All About the Andersons, which aired from 2003-2004. In 2006, Garcia began what ended up being one of her most recognizable roles, appearing on the George Lopez show as Lopez‘s niece for six seasons.

Throughout her time on the series, Aimee also starred alongside Jessica Simpson in the comedy-drama Major Movie Star, narrated the Adam Sandler film Spanglish, and played a supporting role in D-War in 2007.

In the time since George Lopez, Garcia has been a staple on several TV series, appearing in the Peter Berg NBC medical drama Trauma from 2009-2010. She also spent three years on Showtime‘s Dexter as Jamie Batista, a role which earned her a SAG Award nomination for Best Ensemble in Dramatic Television Series. In 2016, Garcia was added to the main cast for the second season of the Fox television series Lucifer.
