Jennifer Lopez is making it clear. At 56, she’s still at the top of her game, on-screen, on stage, and in fashion. The Bronx-born triple threat graced the cover of The Envelope by the LA Times for the 2025 Oscar Actresses Roundtable, showing off her toned abs in a gray Alberta Ferretti crop top and matching skirt.
Designed by the Italian label’s new creative director, Lorenzo Serafini, the look features crisscross straps at the waist and beaded fringe along the sleeves, highlighting Lopez’s incredible figure.
Styled by longtime collaborators Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn, Lopez paired the ensemble with gray pointed-toe pumps and wore her caramel-highlighted hair long and straight.
The cover also spotlights Gwyneth Paltrow, Emily Blunt, Elle Fanning, Tessa Thompson, and Sydney Sweeney. Together, the six actresses discussed navigating Hollywood’s scrutiny, defying expectations, and tackling some of the year’s most challenging roles.
“From the very beginning, for whatever reason, I’ve been a lightning rod for nice things and a lot of negativity,” Lopez admitted during the roundtable. “And it’s hard because you say to yourself, ‘These people don’t get me. They don’t see me. They don’t understand me.’ Then all of a sudden they do. And then they don’t again.”
Even with decades in the spotlight, Lopez credits her grounded upbringing with helping her tune out criticism. “I was always affirming myself and keeping my feet on the ground,” she explained. “Luckily, I had a great mom and dad who really instilled in me a sense of self.”
The mother of 17-year-old twins Emme and Max, with ex-husband Marc Anthony, has spent 2025 juggling international tours, film promotion, and her musical theater debut in 'Kiss of the Spider Woman,' where she performs in a nearly 50-pound costume.
Her Oscar-season confidence is apparent not only in her performances but also in her wardrobe choices. Earlier this month, she appeared at The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment Gala in a power skirt suit with a plunging neckline, signaling her fearless approach to fashion.
Lopez has also faced warnings about spreading herself too thin across entertainment genres. “People were like, ‘They’re never going take you seriously as an actor ever again,’” she recalled, referencing the skepticism she encountered after pursuing a music career following films like 'Selena' and 'Out of Sight.'
Paltrow chimed in to celebrate Lopez’s historic achievement, as she became the first entertainer to have a No. 1 movie and No. 1 album simultaneously, a feat that landed her in the Guinness World Records.
Her confidence extends to more opulent moments as well. Recently, she performed at a lavish Indian wedding, earning $2 million while wearing a crystal-covered saree paired with a staggering 168-carat emerald necklace.
Meanwhile, on the red carpet and at public events, Lopez continues to turn heads in outfits that blend glamour with a bold sense of self-expression.
