As we gear up to say goodbye to the 2010s and enter a new decade, we’re looking back at the fashion trends from the last ten years. Although we were well into the millennia, we decided that the 90s were cool again. Gone were the days of oversized sunglasses, skinny jeans and tank tops. Chokers, mom jeans and let’s not forget the infamous fanny packs, graced everyone’s ‘grams.

Until we wait and see what the next ten years will bring in the fashion world, we’re looking back at nine trends that made their way into our hearts and closets in the last decade. Enjoy!

Chokers

In the 90s, one of the most popular accessories was the choker. Recently, the trend has resurfaced and made its way onto many A-listers’ necks. Some chose bulky designs or delicate chains, while others stacked a variety of chokers together for an extra edgy effect.

Sheer

The saying “less is more” really rung true in the last decade with the use of bralettes and sheer tops. After making their way onto countless runways, the trend continued with people wearing sheer tops and dresses for their everyday styles.

Mom Jeans

Our obsession with 90s style continued with the re-introduction of mom jeans. Instead of tight, skinny jeans, women (and men!) opted for a baggier style that had a vintage vibe to it.

Crop Tops

Nowadays, the crop top is like the little black dress. It’s a necessity for your wardrobe, especially because it works for every occasion. Pair with joggers and you’re ready to hit the gym, or match it with short shorts and you’re beach-ready. You can never go wrong with this item.

Tiny Purses

While the 2000s were all about oversized bags and accessories, the 2010s saw a tinier trend. Celebs opted to take small purses for events and red carpets leaving everyone wondering what these A-listers were fitting inside the bags.

Everything Kim K wore

In the 2010s, Kim Kardashian went from reality tv star to makeup mogul and fashion icon. Her style transformed and echoed her husband Kanye West’s Yeezy designs. Rather than jeans, Kim began wearing a more casual look and soon everyone was mimicking her joggers and sweater style.

Over-the-Shoulder Fanny Pack

No one thought the fanny pack would be a trend again, but here we are. And rather than wear it in the midriff area, people are now wearing it across the shoulder.

Biker Shorts

This was another trend heavily inspired by Kim K’s casual wear. Biker shorts worked for every occasion, from running errands to attending red carpets.

Fluidity

Finally, one trend that took over towards the end of the decade was fluidity fashion. Male celebs like Harry Styles and Jaden Smith are paving the way for men who want to dress more fluid. Blouses, skirts and even high-heeled shoes are now a part of men’s fashion.
