Latin Grammys 2026 predictions: Who could dominate this year?

The Latin Grammys 2026 race is taking shape, and everyone could agree this could be one of the most unpredictable nomination years in recent memory. The 27th Annual Latin Grammy Awards will take place on November 12, 2026, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. 

Before the ceremony, however, all eyes will be on September 16, when the Latin Recording Academy officially announces this year's nominees. As of early September, there is no official 2026 nominations list.

The eligibility window ran from June 1, 2025, through May 31, 2026. First-round voting, which determines the nominees, took place from July 27 through August 10. Final voting will run from October 1 through October 12 after the nominations are revealed.

So who could have the biggest morning when nominations arrive?

Rosalía Could Be the Artist to Beat at the Latin Grammys 2026

If there is an early front-runner for the 2026 Latin Grammys conversation, Rosalía has a very strong case. Her ambitious album LUX is already being identified as a likely Album of the Year contender. Billboard's early prediction list placed the project among five albums considered especially likely to reach the category.

And LUX has exactly the kind of profile that could appeal to Latin Recording Academy voters.

The project pushes far beyond conventional pop, combining orchestral arrangements and operatic influences while moving across languages and musical traditions. It was recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra and reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200. It also debuted at No. 1 across several Billboard album charts, including Top Latin Albums and Top Latin Pop Albums.

Rosalía also has history on her side. She previously won Latin Grammy Album of the Year for Motomami, and her willingness to reinvent her sound has repeatedly made her a formidable awards contender.

Latin Grammys 2026 prediction: Rosalía for Album of the Year

Prediction: Very likely nomination

If LUX lands in Album of the Year, it would hardly be surprising. The bigger question may be how many additional categories Rosalía can enter alongside it. Tracks connected to the album could also make her competitive in the major song and performance fields, giving her the potential for one of the broadest nomination hauls of the year.

CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso Could Continue Their Latin Grammy Rise

CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso are another act that voters may find difficult to ignore. The Argentine duo entered the 2025 Latin Grammys with 10 nominations, and Papota competed for Album of the Year.

Now their follow-up project, Free Spirits, puts them right back in the conversation. Billboard identified the album as one of five especially strong possibilities for the 2026 Album of the Year lineup. The project mixes dance-pop, rock, bossa nova, bachata and Middle Eastern influences while featuring collaborators including Sting and Anderson .Paak.

The Latin Grammys have increasingly produced general-field lineups that stretch well beyond straightforward commercial pop, and CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso have already demonstrated that they can connect with the Academy's voting membership.

Prediction: Likely Album of the Year nomination and multiple genre-category nominations

Carín León Could Make It Three Album of the Year Nominations in a Row

Carín León has become one of the safest names to watch whenever Latin Grammy nominations arrive. His previous projects Boca Chueca, Vol. 1 and Palabra de To's (Seca) both reached the Album of the Year race. His latest project, MUDA, could extend that streak.

The album continues León's expansion beyond traditional música mexicana. He incorporates elements of soul, ska, salsa, disco and Colombian carranga while collaborating with Juanes and Rawayana.

That versatility could help him in a year where genre-crossing albums appear especially strong. León also entered this awards cycle with additional momentum after Palabra de To's (Seca) won Best Música Mexicana Album at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

Prediction: Likely Album of the Year contender and a major música mexicana presence

Rawayana May Be Heading for a General-Field Breakthrough

Do not overlook Rawayana. The Venezuelan band's ¿Dónde Es El After? is another project emerging as a serious Album of the Year possibility.

The sprawling 23-track record moves through reggae, electronic music, funk, pop and tropical influences. Billboard ranked it No. 1 on its midyear list of the best Latin albums of 2026 and included it among its five leading Album of the Year nomination predictions.

One song could be particularly important: "Inglés en Miami," featuring Manuel Turizo.

The track became Rawayana's first Billboard No. 1 single when it topped Latin Rhythm Airplay in May, giving the band a combination awards voters often notice: critical ambition plus measurable commercial impact.

Prediction: Strong Album of the Year possibility, with "Inglés en Miami" worth watching in song and performance categories

Fonseca Could Be the Veteran Threat in Album of the Year

While younger genre-bending artists may command much of the attention, Fonseca has the résumé to complicate the race. His album Antes Que El Tiempo Se Vaya has also been identified as a leading Album of the Year possibility.

The Colombian singer-songwriter explores love, identity and the passage of time while working with tropical sounds including salsa, cumbia and merengue. Collaborators include Juanes, Rubén Blades and Rawayana.

More importantly, this would not be unfamiliar territory. Fonseca has previously earned Album of the Year nominations for Fonseca Sinfónico, Conexión, Agustín and Viajante, although he has yet to win the category.

Prediction: Strong Album of the Year nomination possibility

Could Rosalía's "Berghain" Become a Record of the Year Contender?

The Album of the Year race is easier to forecast at this stage because several major projects have already emerged in industry predictions. Record of the Year and Song of the Year could be harder to call.

Still, Rosalía's "Berghain," featuring Björk and Yves Tumor, has the kind of artistic profile that could attract general-field attention. Released ahead of LUX, the orchestral and operatic track introduced the album's unconventional direction and topped the Spanish charts.

If voters embrace LUX in a major way, it would make sense for one of its signature recordings to travel with it into the general field.

Prediction: "Berghain" as a potential Record of the Year contender

Who Could Lead the 2026 Latin Grammy Nominations?

The safest prediction right now may be that there will not be one obvious artist dominating every major category. The 2025 nominations were led by Bad Bunny with 12, followed by producer-songwriter Edgar Barrera and CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso with 10 each. Bad Bunny's DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS ultimately became an even bigger awards phenomenon, winning Album of the Year at the 2025 Latin Grammys before making history by taking Album of the Year at the 2026 Grammys.

The 2026 Latin Grammy eligibility window creates a different field. Based on the projects currently generating the strongest awards conversation, Rosalía, CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, Carín León, Rawayana and Fonseca appear particularly well positioned for Album of the Year.

Rosalía looks like the potential nomination leader if Academy voters embrace LUX across the general, pop, songwriting, production and technical fields. CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso could challenge her if Free Spirits produces another cross-category showing.

Carín León remains a formidable possibility thanks to his ability to compete in both general-field and música mexicana categories. And Rawayana could become the surprise name appearing almost everywhere.
