Using a classic fútbol terrace chant, one fan was hoisted onto someone’s shoulders so he could lead the crowd. Together, dozens of voices began chanting the wallet owner’s full name, Juan Manuel Montero, over and over again.
Once Montero finally emerged from the crowd, the celebration only got louder. Happiness erupted as fans broke into another chant, this time gleefully shouting in Spanish: “He found it! He found it!” Then, hoisting him in the air.
The internet, unsurprisingly, loved every second of it. “The World Cup is giving me hope for humanity. I love this!” one person commented. Another summed up the moment perfectly: “This must be the weirdest but best way to return a wallet.”
