Earlier this month, Doja Cat delivered an unforgettable set at the ‘Outside Lands’ music festival in San Francisco, transforming the Golden Gate Park stage into a retro-inspired spectacle.
The Grammy-winning star stunned in a zebra-print two-piece ensemble that channeled vintage pop icons of the 1980s, complete with a dramatic mullet-style wig and studded accessories.
The Look: Zebra Print Meets ’80s Glam
The “Say So” singer wore high-waisted skinny pants paired with a push-up bra and a cropped jacket featuring sharp shoulder pads. Multiple studded belts were layered around her waist, and a matching choker completed the statement look, which highlighted her midriff and neckline.
Doja Cat has long embraced bold fashion choices. She famously arrived at the 2023 Met Gala dressed as Karl Lagerfeld’s beloved cat Choupette, complete with feline prosthetics and a custom Oscar de la Renta gown. At the 2024 Met Gala, she stunned again with “mascara tears” makeup crafted by Pat McGrath.
That same year, she turned heads at Paris Fashion Week’s Schiaparelli Haute Couture Show, where she was covered in 30,000 red Swarovski crystals.
New Music: A Nod to the ’80s
During her Outside Lands performance, Doja Cat premiered her new single 'Jealous Type' from her forthcoming album Vie. The singer, 29, previously revealed that the album was inspired by the sounds and aesthetics of the 1980s.
In a conversation with V Magazine, she explained, “I have so many things that float around in my brain when it comes to the ‘80s. And I also am a ‘95 baby, so I have no experience of the ‘80s or any relation to it in that sense."
"There’s something that almost brings me back to a happy place when I see it now. I wanted to play with that nostalgia by using these Lo-Fi sounds and samples and things that reminded you of something from your childhood, but it wasn’t on the nose ‘80s.”
The Festival
Doja Cat headlined alongside an impressive lineup at Outside Lands, which also featured Tyler, the Creator, Hozier, Glass Animals, Jamie XX, Gracie Abrams, and Doechii.
