Last year, Jessica made it through three rounds at the US Open, defeating Petra Martic and Katie Boulter, the highest she'd ever qualified in the tournament. This year, she's set her sights higher, aware of the momentum she's experiencing, happy to showcase her skills in New York and represent her country.

"This is one of the best moments of this season, the year, and perhaps of my career."

"I'm very happy to be here, to come back for another year," she said in Spanish. "This is one of the year's most special tournaments. I have really great memories here. And representing Spain is a great source of pride."

When discussing her tennis career and ranking, Jessica was humble but hopeful for a great performance this tournament as we approach the latter half of the year.

"It's all a process," she said of her tennis. "I think I have a lot of time left to improve. I think I can do much better, and I hope to do so," she said with a laugh. "But this is one of the best moments of this season, the year, and perhaps of my career."

Jessica also shared some of the rituals that she has adopted through her career as a tennis player, a sport she started playing when she was five years old.

"I really have no rituals. The only mania that I have is that I never bring a towel to the first game. And also, when I shower in the locker room, I try to use the same shower every day. But if it's busy, it's okay, I'll use another one," she said.

When it comes to decompressing, she prefers to spend time with her friends and relax. While touring, she likes to get to know the city where she's in. "I like to do some tourism, visit a new place, or do an activity with my team. And, of course, rest."

Jessica Bouzas Maneiro will be playing her first match tomorrow, against Donna Vecik, the 28-year-old player from Croatia. It kicks off at 4:20 pm ET.
