Arjona steps into the role originally portrayed by Faye Dunaway in the 1968 film, and later by Rene Russo in the 1999 remake, playing an insurance investigator who grows suspicious of a banking executive.

Jordan, who not only stars but also directs, takes on the title role, following in the footsteps of Steve McQueen and Pierce Brosnan. The casting comes shortly after Taylor Russell’s sudden exit from the project.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, sources explained Russell exited due to creative differences, sparking an urgent recasting search that ended with Arjona securing the coveted part.

Arjona was reportedly a top choice for producers after her recent string of acclaimed performances. Currently filming in London, 'The Thomas Crown Affair' features an ensemble cast that includes Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, and Aiysha Hart.

The film reunites Jordan with Amazon MGM Studios, the same team behind his 2023 directorial debut, Creed III. “[The movie] isn’t just another remake,” Jordan teased earlier this year in a CinemaCon video segment, promising a fresh take on the beloved crime caper.

Arjona’s involvement marks her continued rise as one of Hollywood’s most in-demand talents. She recently wrapped production on A24’s action thriller 'Onslaught' from director Adam Wingard, and starred in Richard Linklater’s 'Hit Man' opposite Glen Powell.

She also received the Latino Breakout Award from the Latino Entertainment Journalists Association for her performance in the coming-of-age drama 'Los Frikis.' The Guatemalan-Puerto Rican actress also gained praise in the 'Star Wars' series 'Andor,' which earned 14 Primetime Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama, and in Zoë Kravitz’s psychological thriller 'Blink Twice,' another Amazon MGM production.
