Sydney Sweeney is channeling her inner Farrah Fawcett for her new movie. "Americana" stars Sweeney, Halsey, Paul Walter Hauser, and more characters as their paths intersect while searching for a rare Native American artifact.
Sweeney is featured on the trailer, sporting a hairstyle reminiscent of Farrah Fawcett in the '70s and '80s, made up of many layers and some precise curling. She also sports a Southern accent and has dreams of singing country music.
“I got a really dumb idea I’d like to run by you,” she says in the trailer. “I think something bad is going down.”
The film is directed by Tony Tost, marking his directorial debut. Over the past years, Tost has made a name for himself on television, writing for shows like "Longmire," "The Terror," and "Poker Face," where he's also credited as showrunner.
"Americana" appears to straddle the lines between a comedy and an action Western, with pretty subversive results. You can check out the trailer below.
Sweeney's recent public appearances
Over the past couple of months, Sweeney has been photographed in various locations, hanging out with different notorious personalities. Earlier this month, Sweeney was photographed alongside Machine Gun Kelly and Patrick Schwarzenegger at the opening of the Palm Tree Beach Club in Las Vegas.
While many speculated on the nature of Sweeney and Kelly's relationship, the pair have been friends for years, collaborating on multiple projects including "Big Time Adolescence" and "Downfalls High."
Sweeney recently concluded her engagement to her long-term boyfriend, Jonathan Davino. "She's exactly where she wants to be. Most people would feel overwhelmed by her working schedule this year, but not Syd. She's all about working right now and very excited about all her projects," said a source to PEOPLE magazine.
The source claimed that Sweeney "didn't feel right" about her relationship and the wedding, and wanted to focus on her career.
