"Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip" is a family comedy following Alexander (Thom Nemer), an 11-year-old boy convinced that a cursed idol in his possession will ruin a family trip.

The vacation is curated by his mother, Val (Longoria), a travel writer who's been granted a luxury RV because of her job. Thinking it's the perfect opportunity to bond with her family, she invites everyone along for a unique occasion.

"With his dad Frank (Jesse Garcia), his teen sister Mia (Paulina Chávez), Grandma Lidia (Rose Portillo), and Grandpa Gil (Cheech Marin) by his side, Alexander will need to work with his family to return the cursed idol before things get even worse," reads the film's press release.

The project is directed by Marvin Lemus, who's worked with Longoria on the series "Gentefied," and is based on the novel of the same name written by Judith Viorst. You can check out the full trailer below.

Longoria on the joys and challenges of making the film

Even though the film is a light-hearted and fun comedy, the performers had to do some hard work. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Longoria revealed that she pulled a muscle while shooting one of the action scenes.

Still, she was happy while working with Lemus. "It was like we weren't working," she said.

"We had some crazy sh-- to do. We were in a Winnebago underwater, and then I was hanging off a wire, and the truck was exploding. I think I pulled a muscle running after an ice cream truck."

"We definitely had hard days, but then it never felt like that. It never felt like a hard day."
