Paul Mescal is booked and busy. The rising Hollywood star, who positioned himself as one of the most fan-favorite actors in the industry after his performance in 'Gladiator II,' is set to portray Paul McCartney in the upcoming Beatles biopic project.

Following speculations about the casting, director Ridley Scott unveiled the news after being asked if he was going to work with Paul again in the future. “Maybe," he responded, explaining that the Irish actor had other projects lined up. "Paul is actually stacked up, doing the Beatles next. So I may have to let him go."

Paul recently commented on the rumors about the casting process. “It would be an incredible story to be attached to,” he said to Entertainment Tonight. “The fact that Sam Mendes is attached to direct, like truly, it would be a dream come true.” He was also asked if he was considered to play McCartney, to which he responded. “No, no, no — we’re not going there.”

The casting decision has yet to be confirmed by the studio. However, it all indicated that Paul had been chosen to play the musician. The upcoming project consists of four biopics about the four members of the band; McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr.

While details about the production are still under wraps, Ringo Starr revealed who would be playing him in the biopic. “I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many," he said about 'Saltburn' star Barry Keoghan. Harris Dickinson and Charlie Rowe have been rumored to play the late Lennon and Harrison, respectively.

“I think it’s great,” Ringo said about the actor. “I’m honored to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies,” director Sam Mendes said in a statement.
