Sony has released the first photos from Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City which opens exclusively in theaters on November 24. Set in 1998, this ‘Resident Evil’ origin story explains the secrets of the Spencer Mansion and Raccoon City. Raccoon City is a dying city that was once the booming home of pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation. The company’s exodus left the city desolate... with a great evil brewing beneath the surface. When that evil is unleashed, a group of survivors must work together to uncover the truth behind Umbrella and survive the night. The first photo shows “Leon S. Kennedy,” portrayed by Avan Jogia, and “Claire Redfield,” played by Kaya Scodelario.

Directed and written by fan and filmmaker Johannes Roberts, the film will bring the popular Resident Evil video games to life for a new generation of fans. Every character and creature is from the game to create an immersive feeling for the fans. Roberts told IGN, “that also became the trickiest part of adapting a piece of IP like this because I didn’t just want to put the game on screen - it had to be its own thing with living breathing characters and creatures (and of course zombies!) that felt true to the world. There is some cool s**t in there. I mean some of the creature stuff looks f***ing incredible. It was a mixture of prosthetics, CGI, and creature performers. There’s some wonderfully freaky stuff in there. You’ll immediately recognize the creatures from the game but hopefully, we’ve gone beyond the game in terms of making these terrifying creations feel like they really could exist in real life.”

A still includes “Lisa Trevor,” portrayed by Marina Mazepa.

Per PC Gamer, Marina Mazepa stars as “Lisa Trevor” who was the subject of various forms of experimentation by Umbrella scientists for years, and exposure to a “Progenitor virus” granted her enhanced physical abilities including near-superhuman strength. The film also stars, Robbie Amell, Tom Hopper, Donal Logue, and Neal McDonough.
