The 2021 Emmy Awards nominations were announced yesterday, and this year Latinos proudly secured nominations in all acting categories. These outstanding actors were: Rosie Perez, Anya Taylor-Joy, Anthony Ramos, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Alexis Bledel and Mj Rodriguez.

While Lin-Manuel Miranda and Alexis Bledel had been nominated in the past, the other three are first-time nominees with Mj Rodriguez making history as the first trans woman to be recognized in the leading acting category.

Mj Rodriguez

Afro-Puerto Rican actress, Mj Rodriguez was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role in FX’s show Pose. This was her first time to be nominated for the Emmys and it was historic nomination as she was the first trans woman to be recognized.

Anya Taylor-Joy

The beautiful Anya Taylor-Joy, who was born in Miami and is of Argentine descent, was nominated for Best Actress, Limited Series or TV Movie for her performance as Beth Harmon in Netflix‘s “The Queen’s Gambit.”

Rosie Perez

Well known and loved latina actress Rosie Perez was nominated for the category Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, for her role in the HBO Max Original, “The Flight Attendant.”

Alexis Bledel

For her role in “The Handmaid’s Tale,” Alexis Bledel was nominated in the category Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series, this is her second nomination for acting in the series. Alexis who became known for her role in the comedy-drama TV series Gilmore Girls is part Argentine and part Mexican.

Anthony Ramos got nominated in the category of Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for the role of John in “Hamilton.” This was his first exciting nomination.

Lin-Manuel Miranda

Lin-Manuel Miranda was nominated in the category Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie, for his role in Hamilton. This was not his first nomination, Lin-Manuel has received 5 consecutive Emmy nominations including a win for Original Music in 2014.
