“House Of Gucci” is a murder drama film directed by Ridley Scott and also stars Jared Leto and Al Pacino. The film follows the Gucci Fashion dynasty and the murder of the founder Guccio Gucci’s grandson. Guccio’s grandson was named Maurizio Gucci (Drive) and his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani (Gaga) was tried and convicted of hiring a hitman to kill him on the steps of his office in Milan in 1995.

Maurizio left Patrizia for a younger woman in 1985 and they officially divorced in 1991. She received alimony as part of the settlement but 3 years later she was diagnosed with a brain tumor which was removed successfully. She plotted his 1995 assassination quickly after. Patrizia was arrested in 1997 and was convicted in 1998. The “Black Widow” was sentenced to 29 years in prison but according to Vogue, their daughters Alessandra and Allegra asked for her conviction to be overturned, claiming her brain tumor affected her personality and ability to reason. They were successful in an appeals court in Italy in 2000 and her sentences was slightly reduced to 26 years. She was eventually released in 2016 for good behavior after serving 18 years.

The film is based on Sara Gay Forden’s book, “The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed.” It is set to open throughout the United States on Nov. 26.
