Taylor Swift is clearing the air. The singer dropped a surprise studio album in December titledEvermore and on January 7th she released 2 more bonus tracks from the deluxe edition. The new tracks are called “It‘s Time to Go’’ and ”Right Where You Left Me,” and the lyrics got the attention of her “Swifties.” Per E! Online, fans started to speculate if one of the songs was about fashion model and mama to be, Karlie Kloss.

Swift is known for hiding Easter eggs in her lyrics about very specific people and circumstances. From Jake Gyllenhaal to exes that cheated on her in high school, no one is safe from Swift‘s witty lyrics. So when her devoted fans heard the lyrics “When the words of a sister come back in whispers, that proves she was not in fact, what she seemed. Not a twin from your dreams, she’s a crook who was caught,” in “It’s Time to Go’’ they put their detective’s hat and got to work. Per Insider, many people think that they publicly drifted apart because Kloss began hanging out with Scooter Braun and Katy Perry. Both have feuded with Swift in the past. Fans suspected that the words “whispers” and ``crooks” hinted at the situation. The whole song is about knowing when to let go of a person or situation that no longer serves you. The Swifties took to Twitter to share all the metaphors they were found in the songs. One pointed out that her lines “My past trapped behind glass” and “Stealing my work” could reference the masters to her music that Braun sold for over 300 million.

It’s likely Swift saw all the rumors about Kloss because on January 8the she told fans what the song is about. “The evermore deluxe album with 2 bonus tracks ‘right where you left me’ and ’it’s time to go’ is now available!” the performer wrote in the caption. “The first is a song about a girl who stayed forever in the exact spot where her heart was broken, completely frozen in time. ’it’s time to go’ is about listening to your gut when it tells you to leave. How you always know before you know, you know?”

The two’s friendship goes all the way back to 2012, but they had a mysterious falling out around 2018. During that time Swift performed at several Victoria Secret Fashion shows where Kloss rocked the runway. The former besties vacationed together, went shopping together, and even appeared on the cover of Vogue together in 2015. They were spotted together less in 2016 but still wished each other a happy birthday on social media up until 2017. Things really got weird when PEOPLE reported that Kloss went to dinner with Perry in February 2018. Per Elle, even Jennifer Lawrence wanted to know what was up. During a TimesTalks Q&A for her spy movie Red Sparrow, she said she’d ”like to know what’s going on with Karlie Kloss and Taylor Swift, that’s the honest to God truth.” She also joked that ”what happened” between them is ”keeping me up at night.”
