Billy Ray Cyrus has some thoughts following his daughter's decision to change her name. Following the announcement of her new album, Miley Cyrus revealed she's dropping her last name, going only by Miley. Cyrus has shared his thoughts in a lengthy Instagram caption.
© Variety via Getty ImagesIn a post shared on Instagram, Cyrus shared his thoughts, accompanied by an adorable photo of him and two of his kids: Braison and Miley, whom he shares with his ex-wife Tish Cyrus.
"Family means more than ever now. I always called my little girl Miley. Just … Miley. Just like I always called my little boy Braison," Cyrus captioned the post. He then explained that he felt good about Miley going only by her first name, name-checking Dolly Parton, Miley's godmother, who recently passed away.

Miley shared the news of her name change in a recent social media post, accompanied by her changing her social media handles and a red portrait captioned "MILEY."
Her new album is called "Bass Persuades" and will be coming out on September 18th. It's her 10th studio album. Her lead single is coming out tonight, accompanied by a music video.
“Music takes hold of us. We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on. It is powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong,” wrote Miley in a post announcing the record. “Heart full, heartache, every part of life in between. That’s what the title means to me. Thank you for being a part of making my wildest dreams come true. I sincerely hope you love this album.”
