Carín León has had a rollercoaster of a week. The regional Mexican superstars' album, Muda, is set to be released on Friday, May 8, and it's been a busy few days in Mexico City, with HOLA! present.

After a press conference on Tuesday, May 5, he celebrated with an album release party, where he performed new songs from the album and some of his biggest hits. But after his performance, members of his team, and his partner Meylin Zúñiga, experienced some people's worst nightmare when an elevator fell one floor.

Zúñiga, who was wearing heels, was injured in the accident, and photos made their way around social media of León carrying him in her arms as they sought medical attention. They headed to a hospital where they discovered she had fractured her ankle.

The singer later shared a statement updating fans on what happened. “To all my fans: Yesterday, after the presentation of my new album Muda, we experienced an incident where my wife, Meylin Zúñiga, suffered a fractured ankle. We are both stable and receiving the corresponding medical attention.”

He also confirmed that there will be no interruptions to the album rollout or Carín’s upcoming shows. “My scheduled performances this weekend in Metepec and Puebla are still happening,” the singer shared before thanking fans for their support and concern.

It's an incident that could have been worse, and fans are thankful they are both okay. But amid the news, one word in his statement got people's attention: he called her his wife. Until now, it was believed that they had not yet married. At his press conference earlier in the day, he told the press they didn't have a wedding date, but he knew she was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.

Meylin also explained the situation on social media, sharing a photo of her ankle in a cast, writing, “The elevator we got into after Armando’s presentation fell one floor. A lot of people from the team were inside.” She later reassured followers about her condition, adding, “Thank God everyone is okay, just a small fracture in my ankle. Thank you for all your messages!!”

Keeping her sense of humor through it all, she joked, “We had an incredible night. But I’ll take it as a good omen — ‘break a leg.’ More success coming and fewer heels,” referencing the famous phrase used in entertainment to wish someone good luck.

She later revealed that she has already started rehabilitation, sharing a photo of her injured ankle in a tub of ice.

Originally from Tampico, Zúñiga is a businesswoman, model, and publicist. The 35-year-old entrepreneur owns the sportswear and loungewear brand FirePig and has also worked as a brand ambassador for several companies.

Beyond her business ventures, Meylin is also a mother of two, a son and a daughter, and was previously married, much like Carín, who confirmed his own divorce last year. The couple, who are close in age, have frequently shared sweet moments together on social media, where her audience has continued to grow, with more than 229k followers on Instagram alone.

Carín León and Meylin Zúñiga first went public in 2023 after she booked the singer for a performance through a business partner. Before that, they had never spoken or even followed each other on social media. Still, the connection was instant.

Although they have kept details of their relationship private,  she previously shared on a podcast while talking about the beginning of their relationship. “The day he and I met was the exact moment we were supposed to meet. It was the day God said, ‘you two need to lock eyes’ and ‘you need to come together and stay together for the rest of your lives."
