Zayn Malik’s new tattoo is completely unexpected! The former One Direction star has added more ink to his already iconic collection, and is not a microphone or musical instrument. To everyone’s surprise his latest piece is dedicated to none other than Drew Barrymore.
He broke the news during his recent appearance on The Zach Sang Show, where he shared that the tattoo, placed on his forearm, was inspired by the actress and TV host. As if that was not enough, Barrymore reciprocated the gesture with a tattoo of his name written in Arabic.
“It was actually done on live TV,” Malik explained during the interview. The moment will be streamed soon on The Drew Barrymore Show, during an episode, scheduled to air April 23.
Zayn Malik’s tattoos have long been a signature part of his identity. The proud dad of one, has intricate designs and symbolic pieces. Each tattoo tells a story about his life, relationships, and artistic evolution. “Tattoos are a way of expressing things you don’t always say out loud,” Malik has previously shared in interviews.
Zayn Malik Steps Back to Recover
In addition to his tattoo moment, Malik’s health has also been a topic of conversation since April 17, when he revealed via Instagram Stories that he had been hospitalized. “To my fans — Thank you to all of you for your love & support now & always — been a long week and am still unexpectedly recovering,” he wrote alongside a photo from his hospital bed.
He continued, “Heartbroken that I can't see you all this week, I wouldn't be in the place I am today without you guys and am so thankful for your understanding.”
According to People, sources close to the singer indicate that he is prioritizing his recovery, which has led him to postpone fan meet-and-greets and appearances, including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The publications said he is reportedly seeking treatment from a leading cardiologist.
Despite the temporary pause, Malik’s new album, “Konnakol,” dropped on the same day he shared his health update. After he recovers, he will start preparing for his first solo headline arena tour.
