Television journalist Savannah Guthrie, alongside her siblings Annie and Cameron, has released a video statement asking for help in bringing their mother home safely. The family says their 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, was reported missing on Sunday after she failed to appear at church near her home outside Tucson, Arizona.

The emotional message, posted to Instagram on Wednesday, underscores the urgency of the situation. The siblings stressed that their mother is in poor health and does not have access to her medication, which they say is essential for her survival and comfort.

“She’s 84 years old. Her health, her heart, is fragile. She lives in constant pain. She is without any medicine. She needs it to survive, and she needs it not to suffer,” Savannah Guthrie said in the video.

Timeline of Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance Near Tucson

According to family members, Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her home near Tucson on Saturday night at approximately 9.30 pm. When she did not attend church the next morning, concern quickly escalated. A member of her church contacted the family Sunday afternoon, prompting them to report her missing.

Authorities in Arizona say they are still working to determine what happened in the hours after she was last seen. The case has grown increasingly serious as investigators acknowledged the possibility of foul play.

Sheriff Confirms Crime Scene as Search Intensifies

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said he could not rule out criminal involvement. During a Sunday night news conference, he confirmed that search and rescue teams were deployed with support from volunteers, Border Patrol, and the homicide unit.

“It’s not standard for the homicide team to be involved in these types of cases,” Nanos said, signaling the gravity of the situation. At a Monday morning briefing, he added, “We do in fact have a crime scene,” and suggested that evidence indicated Nancy Guthrie did not leave her home on her own.

As of Wednesday, no additional details about the investigation have been released, according to the Associated Press. The Pima County Sheriff's Office has said it does not know where she is three days after her disappearance.

Family Responds to Reports of Ransom Letter

In the Instagram video, Savannah Guthrie also addressed media reports referencing a possible ransom letter from alleged kidnappers. She urged caution while making it clear that the family is willing to engage if it leads to answers.

“We, too, have heard the reports about a ransom letter in the media. As a family, we are doing everything that we can. We are ready to talk,” she said. “However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you and we are ready to listen.”

The statement reflected both resolve and restraint as the family balanced hope with the realities of modern misinformation.

Annie Guthrie Calls Her Mother “Our Beacon”

Savannah’s sister Annie Guthrie offered one of the most personal moments in the video, directly addressing their mother and pleading for her return. “The light is missing from our lives, Nancy is our mother, we are her children, she is our beacon,” Annie said. “We are always going to be merely human, just normal human people who need our mom. Mama, mama, if you’re listening, we need you to come home. We miss you.”

The message resonated with viewers, many of whom shared messages of support across social platforms.

National Attention and Political Response

Following the family’s public appeal, Donald Trump said in a social media post that he spoke with Savannah Guthrie on Wednesday and was “deploying all resources to get her mother home safely.” Axios later reported that Attorney General Pam Bondi also spoke with Guthrie, and that Kash Patel planned to travel to Tucson personally.

The involvement of federal leadership and the Federal Bureau of Investigation has brought heightened attention to the case as investigators continue their work.

A Family Waiting for Answers

Savannah Guthrie, a longtime co-anchor on NBC’s Today, has spent years reporting major national stories. Now, she and her siblings are living one. Their message remains simple and urgent: Nancy Guthrie needs to come home safely, with her health and dignity intact, as soon as possible.
