Christina Aguilera has sparked a social media stir after sharing bold topless photos from her Paris hotel during Haute Couture Week. The 45-year-old pop star posted the images as part of a wider Instagram slideshow documenting her time in the French capital, where she attended runway shows and high-profile events alongside her fiancé Matthew Rutler, 41.
The racy photos showed Aguilera standing in what appeared to be her Paris hotel room, covering her bare chest with her hands while wearing a dramatic black ruffled skirt.
She accessorised with a diamond necklace and hoop earrings, while her long blonde hair flowed freely down her back. The singer kept her makeup glamorous, opting for silver eyeshadow and a flawless complexion as she looked away from the camera, with Rutler believed to have taken the snaps.
She captioned the post, “northern lights, parisian nights ✈️🌌🌃🌠⭐️💫✨,” a nod to other images in the carousel that included a view of the Northern Lights from her private jet and a relaxed bathtub selfie from her Parisian lodgings. Aguilera also shared behind-the-scenes moments from Paris Haute Couture Week, including images of her attending shows alongside A$AP Rocky.
Aguilera and Rutler, who met on the set of Burlesque in 2010, were recently seen dining at Peruvian restaurant Manko following her performance at the Gala des Pièces Jaunes. The couple share a daughter, Summer Rain, 11, while Aguilera is also the mother to son Max Liron, 17, from her previous marriage to Jordan Bratman.
The pop star recently reflected on reclaiming control over her image. Speaking as part of a panel alongside Halle Berry at the Bare It All Event in California, she explained, “I remember, just releasing my Stripped album, I faced quite a bit of backlash with my song Dirrty. And for me, I felt incredibly empowered, knowing my body and expressing myself the way I wanted to, not fitting this weird label-driven, pop bubble manufacturer, robotic thing that I knew I wasn't. And so when that started for me, it was very interesting for me to hear other people's views on why I shouldn't be doing that, why I didn't have a right to my own voice on my own body.”
The ‘Genie In A Bottle’ singer rose to fame in the early 1990s. She was part of ‘The All-New Mickey Mouse Club’ alongside Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, before launching her solo career. Her song ‘Stripped’ marked a turning point, both musically and visually, as she embraced a more provocative style that challenged expectations placed on female pop stars.
She added, “I have to say, probably the more trouble I got in for wearing it, the more fun I had wearing it. The chaps were iconic. It was definitely a fun moment, and it still is fun to see people represent them for their Halloween costumes. I get so excited to see different people's interpretations of it.”
