Brooklyn Beckham is done staying quiet. In a lengthy and emotionally charged statement, the 26-year-old made it clear that he has no intention of repairing his fractured relationship with his famous parents, Sir David Beckham and Victoria Beckham.
After months of speculation and whispered headlines, Brooklyn decided to speak publicly, saying he felt forced to respond after years of silence. “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”

But he claimed his parents and their team continued taking the story to the press, leaving him with what he described as no choice but to address what he called “some of the lies that have been printed.”
At the center of the rift is Brooklyn’s wife, actress and heiress Nicola Peltz-Beckham, whom he says has been mistreated since before their April 2022 wedding. According to Brooklyn, tensions that quietly simmered for years exploded during the planning of their lavish Florida ceremony and never truly cooled.
“My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped,” he wrote.

“My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress,” Brooklyn said.
He also alleged that, in the weeks leading up to the wedding, his parents “repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe” him into signing away the rights to his own name. According to Brooklyn, the timing mattered.

Brooklyn painted a picture of a family dynamic driven by optics and branding rather than emotional support. “For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family,” he wrote.
“The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.” He accused his parents of prioritizing image over intimacy, claiming that “Brand Beckham comes first.”

The wedding itself, Brooklyn said, was marked by moments that still haunt him. He alleged that his mother interrupted his planned first dance with Nicola, replacing it with her own dance in front of hundreds of guests.
“I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life,” he wrote. The experience was so upsetting, he said, that he and Nicola later chose to renew their vows in private, without his family present, to reclaim joyful memories of their marriage.

“My wife has been consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard we’ve tried to come together as one,” he wrote. The tension did not end with the wedding.
Brooklyn addressed rumors surrounding his absence from David Beckham’s milestone 50th birthday celebrations, saying he and Nicola traveled to London hoping to spend time together quietly. Instead, he claims they were repeatedly rebuffed.

“The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards,” he wrote. “I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life.”
For Brooklyn, stepping away from his family has brought an unexpected sense of calm. He spoke openly about struggling with anxiety growing up and said that distance has changed his life.

The statement ended with a clear boundary and a quiet wish for the future. "My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation,” he concluded. “All we want peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.”
Reports indicate that Brooklyn previously asked his parents to contact him only through lawyers, underscoring just how strained communication has become.
