Matt Damon turned a high-profile movie night into a warm family moment as he arrived at Netflix’s “The Rip” premiere in New York City with his wife and daughters by his side. The event took place on January 13, 2026, at Alice Tully Hall inside Lincoln Center, one of Manhattan’s most iconic cultural landmarks. It was a rare public appearance for the full Damon family, and it quickly became one of the most talked-about red carpet moments of the season.
Isabella Damon, Luciana Barroso Damon, Matt Damon, Gia Damon, and Stella Damon attended the premiere together. The group stepped out for a night that mixed Hollywood glamour with something far more grounded: a family celebrating a major career milestone together.
“The Rip” is one of Netflix’s most anticipated releases of the year, and the New York premiere delivered exactly what fans expect from a high-profile streaming debut. The venue was buzzing with photographers, industry insiders, and media crews ready to capture every detail. What made this premiere stand out was not just the film, but the way Matt Damon chose to share the moment.
Instead of walking the carpet alone or with co-stars, Damon arrived with his wife Luciana and their daughters Isabella, Gia, and Stella. Matt Damon is known for being one of the most private A-list actors in the industry. Despite decades in the spotlight, he has kept his home life largely out of the public eye. That makes moments like this even more meaningful.
Luciana Barroso Damon, who has been married to Matt Damon for years, has often been described as his grounding force. Isabella, Gia, and Stella Damon do not often attend public events together, which made their presence at “The Rip” premiere especially striking.
But, What about Ben?
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have been friends and business partners for decades, but long before Luciana Barroso ever met Damon in person, she had her eye on Affleck after seeing him in "Good Will Hunting" in theaters. According to Damon, his wife thought his best friend and co-star was more attractive.
During a joint appearance on SiriusXM's The Howard Stern Show on January 12, Damon and Affleck were promoting their new Netflix film, "The Rip." What started as a casual question from Stern about the night Damon met Barroso quickly evolved into a story that has clearly occupied Damon’s thoughts for decades.
“Her best friend thought I was the cute one, and she thought Ben was the cute one,” Damon recalled. “So she admitted to me… I’m like ‘You got the wrong one?’” he added. “She told me that 23 years ago.”
Affleck, who sat next to Damon during the interview, appeared genuinely amused by the story, particularly considering how closely their lives are connected. Although he wasn't there when Damon met Barroso in Miami in 2003, Affleck mentioned that the three of them now collaborate closely. Barroso is a producer on “The Rip” and is also working on Affleck’s upcoming directorial project, “Animals.”
“She’s a great producer and a really good friend and yeah, I never got that vibe from her,” Affleck joked. “So I think something I did in real life rubbed it off.”
“Finally she met him and all that went away,” Damon chimed in.
