NASCAR legend Greg Biffle and his family have died. The tragic news was confirmed by a family friend, who shared a statement with the public and prompted some reactions from the racing community.
© Getty ImagesBiffle and his family were traveling to Florida and were involved in a plane crash that resulted in the deaths of six people. The accident took place on Thursday morning in North Carolina, while the plane was trying to land in the midst of foggy weather, reports the Associated Press.
Biffle's family was made up of his wife, Cristina, and their kids, Emma, 14, and Ryder, 5.
Representative Richard Hudson, a close family friend of the Biffles, shared the news of the deaths in a statement. “I am devastated by the loss of Greg, Cristina, and their children, and my heart is with all who loved them,” he wrote on X.

"Greg was more than a champion driver, he was a beloved member of the NASCAR community, a fierce competitor, and a friend to so many."
"His passion for racing, his integrity, and his commitment to fans and fellow competitors alike made a lasting impact on the sport."
"Beyond his racing career, he gave of himself for the betterment of our community. Most notably, Greg spent countless hours of his time helping the citizens of North Carolina during the disasters that followed Hurricane Helene. His tireless work saved lives.
