Suri Cruise is experiencing an important moment in her life. The 19 year old daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise has led a discreet and private life. Despite the fact that she grew up as one of the most famous kids in the world, her mother has worked hard to allow Suri to grow up as normally as possible in New York City, enjoying her life as a kid and a teen.
In 2024, Suri moved to Pittsburgh, where she's studying at the prestigious Carnegie Mellon University. Before enrolling there, Suri studied at New York’s famed LaGuardia High School of Music & Performing Arts, where celebrities like Timothée Chalamet and Nicki Minaj went to school.
Before Suri graduated from school, Holmes spoke about her daughter and her feelings regarding her move out of New York, the city where the two have lived for most of their lives. “I’m proud of my daughter. Of course I’ll miss the closeness, but I’m very proud of her and I’m happy," she said to Town & Country.
"I remember being that age, that moment of new beginnings. It’s exciting to learn about yourself, and I really enjoyed that time, so it makes me happy to think of it that way."
Mother and daughter showcased their bond shortly after Suri's graduation, with Holmes accompanying her to Carnegie Mellon and helping her move all of her clothes and furniture. Paparazzi captured the two sitting on the outside of the school, taking a breather together.
Her time in Manhattan
Despite the fact that Pittsburgh is hours away from Manhattan, over the past year, Suri has been photographed on multiple occasions in the city. Whether she's supporting her mother at her film sets and stage productions, hanging out with some friends, or choosing to spend her summer vacation there, Suri clearly loves to spend her free time in the city.
When she's in New York, Suri is likely staying at the apartment she grew up in, located in Chelsea and boasting a stunning view towards the Empire State Building.
While Holmes is very careful when discussing her daughter, she's opened up about becoming a young mom and the tight bong she's developed with Suri due to the fact that they both understand each other and are relatively close in age. “I was happy to become a mom in my 20s,” she said in an interview with Elle UK.
“It’s been nice that our ages fit. How do I put this? Every age that my child has been and my age at that time has been a good match. We kind of grew up together.”
