Brooke Mueller is alleging that her ex-husband Charlie Sheen owes her more than $15 million in past-due child support.
In court filings reviewed by PEOPLE, the 48-year-old actress says Sheen owes roughly $15.3 million connected to support for their 16-year-old twins, Bob and Max. According to the documents, the 60-year-old actor is behind by $8,967,600 in child support and an additional $6,418,643 in accumulated interest. TMZ was the first to report the filing.
Mueller also states in the paperwork that she expects Sheen to pay the entire amount within 30 days.
She contends that a court ordered Sheen to pay her $55,000 a month in April 2010, and that she had no issues receiving the money until mid-2011. She claims that after July 2011, Sheen either reduced his payments or stopped making them altogether. Her filing asks the court to compel Sheen to repay the outstanding amount and requests $25,000 to cover her legal fees.
A representative for Mueller declined to comment when contacted by PEOPLE, and Sheen’s rep did not immediately respond.
Mueller previously spoke with People in March about her recovery journey, discussing co-parenting dynamics with Sheen and how their sons are doing. At the time, she shared that Sheen has consistently been her “first call for help” whenever she’s in need.
“He gets it,” she said. “He's always there to help me and pick up the pieces.”
She explained that although her sons are “thriving,” they’ve endured a lot throughout her ups and downs.
“The sad reality, is they get used to it — Mommy is going to relapse again one day,” she admitted, noting how “unfair” that is for them. “They've never tried a drink or drugs or been on a date yet. I can't tell you what I was doing at 15. They ended up being with their group of friends that happened to be really good kids.”
Mueller also praised Sheen, who resides in the same apartment building, for remaining present in their sons’ lives.
“We share custody, we co-parent without attorneys, which is great,” Mueller said. “And I'm very grateful for that. The fact he gives me yet another chance shows his deep true heart underneath.”
In a December 2023 interview with People, Sheen opened up about his bond with the twins. The father of five — who also shares Sami, 21, and Lola, 20, with Denise Richards, and Cassandra Jade Estevez, 40, with Paula Speert — said his youngest sons value his sobriety and how he handled Mueller’s reported relapse earlier in the year.
"She's trying to figure some stuff out on her end," he said at the time. "The boys are proud of me, now. They see what mom goes through, and I'm not dumping on mom because I know it's a thing."
Mueller and Sheen were married between 2008 and 2011. They maintain joint legal custody of their twins, but according to documents obtained by People, that arrangement depends on Mueller’s sobriety. Their agreement states they will “continue to enjoy joint legal custody” unless she relapses or tests positive for drugs or alcohol, in which case Sheen would assume sole custody “until further court order or written agreement of the Parties,” potentially with as little as 48 hours' notice.
Although physical custody is shared, the documents specify that “the minor children's primary residence will be with [Sheen].”
“Brooke shall enjoy reasonable and flexible periods of custody and visitation as agreed and arranged between the Parties, recognizing the goal of frequent and continuous contact between the minors and both parents.”
