Dua Lipa is currently on her Radical Optimism Tour, and she's been finding the best ways to celebrate the Countries she's visited and the icons who were born there. For her Friday night stop in Bogotá, Colombia, the “Houdini” singer honored Shakira, covering her 1995 classic “Antología.”
Lipa shared a video of her covering the song in what sounds like perfect Spanish, wearing a black fur coat thrown over a sheer, and a sparkly black catsuit. As expected, the crowd lost it, singing the lyrics back at her. The 30-year-old even got the seal of approval from the Colombian GRAMMY winner herself.
On Instagram, Shakira reposted a clip of Dua’s performance and revealed that the song was born in Bogotá: “I’m so touched to hear my song in Dua’s voice, in the same city where I wrote it years ago," she wrote. "See how music brings us together? A girl from London and another one from Barranquilla! Thanks @dualipa! What a treat!”
The 48-year-old continued. Lipa jumped into the comments, writing in Spanish, "It was a beautiful night, and I loved singing your song!!!. I ❤️ you!!!”
Fans were loving their interaction. "A princess who recognizes a queen," reads the top-liked comments. Others begged them to collaborate on a new song. She also received many compliments on her Spanish.
It's clear the night made a lasting impact on the Lipa, when she shared a gallery of moments she wrote in the caption, "BOGOTA!!!! Thank you for a truly epic night!!! I'll be living off this adrenaline for the next few days."
The singer grew up speaking multiple languages: English, Albanian, and she’s picked up Spanish along the way. She’s been working it into interviews, fan interactions, and little moments throughout her tour.
Her tour ends this week, and there is currently a pop-up Taquería La Da taco shop in Mexico City offering up food to celebrate the end of her tour.
There are four food items named after her songs, like Taco Radical Optimism, Taco Houdini, Taco María, and an Illusion Consomé. There are also three drinks: Caguamita, mini margaritas, or cucumber water.
