Olivia Manuela Yacé of Côte d’Ivoire has always carried herself with the quiet thunder of someone who knows exactly who she is. Now, she’s proving it again with a decision bold enough to ripple across continents. The reigning Miss Universe Africa & Oceania has officially resigned from her title, according to her, as a way of choosing principle over pageantry and purpose over prestige.

Her announcement came through a striking statement layered over her image, where she spoke with clarity. She explained that while competing at Miss Universe 2025 in Bangkok showed her the scope of what she can achieve, staying aligned with her core values mattered even more.

“As the representative of Côte d’Ivoire at the Miss Universe 2025 competition in Bangkok, I witnessed firsthand that I was capable of accomplishing great things despite adversity. But to continue on this path, I must remain true to my values: respect, dignity, excellence, and equal opportunity, the strongest pillars that guide me," she began.

Walking away from a crown is no small act in a world that often treats titles like oxygen. She described her resignation as the only way to remain anchored in the values that have guided her journey since she first stepped into the global spotlight.

"With a heart full of gratitude and profound respect, I hereby announce my resignation from the title of Miss Universe Africa and Oceania, as well as from any future affiliation with the Miss Universe Committee. Throughout my journey as an ambassador and beauty queen, I have served with commitment, resilience, discipline, and determination. However, to fully reach my potential, I must remain firmly anchored in my values and guiding principles that pave the way toward excellence," the model continued.

"As I stated on stage, my greatest wish is to be a role model for the new generation, especially young girls. I encourage them to push their limits, to walk confidently into rooms where they believe they do not belong, and to proudly embrace their identity," Olivia wrote. "It is this commitment to being a positive influence that guides my decision today. Stepping away from this diminished role of Miss Universe Africa and Oceania will allow me to dedicate myself fully to defending the values I hold dear."

Rather than holding on to the title, she’s choosing the bigger mission of being a role model for young girls and a champion for the Afro-descendant communities she loves.

"I call upon Black, African, Caribbean, American, and Afro-descendant communities: continue entering spaces where you are not expected. Let us open the way for the brothers and sisters who will follow us. Never let anyone define who we are or limit our potential. Our presence matters, and our voices must be heard."

And she isn’t walking away alone. Her fellow Misses rushed to her side with messages that weren’t just kind; they were rallying cries. Miss Universe Indonesia 2025, Sanly Liuu, shared a message glowing with solidarity: “A title doesn’t make a queen... integrity does. Proud of your strength, my forever Queen.”

Miss Universe Cuba, Lina Luaces, brought her own style of affection into the mix, writing, “That’s my president.” The outpouring of love didn’t just validate Olivia’s choice; it amplified it.

Even in her departure, Olivia made room for kindness. She congratulated the new Miss Universe, wished Miss Universe Jamaica a speedy recovery, and thanked everyone who walked part of the journey with her.

"I would also like to extend my congratulations to the new Miss Universe. I also wish Miss Universe Jamaica a swift recovery and send her all my affection," she wrote. "I am deeply grateful for the support I have received and for the unforgettable experiences that have shaped me. I will now continue my journey differently, with the same determination to uplift and inspire. Thank you to all those who have been part of this exceptional adventure. Let us continue to defend our values and strive for greatness together. IT’S TIME FOR AFRICA," she concluded.
