Cardi B turned her newborn’s umbilical cord into an unexpected keepsake

Cardi B has always been a master of taking life’s most chaotic moments and giving them a sentimental sparkle. This time, the sparkle is literal. The rapper, 33, recently welcomed her fourth baby, a boy, with Stefon Diggs on November 4. Instead of letting those early birth essentials fade into memory, she decided to transform her newborn’s umbilical cord into a heart-shaped piece of wearable memory.

The alchemy happened thanks to Juliane Marie Corona, the placenta-encapsulation expert behind Mommy Made Encapsulation. On November 20, Corona took to Instagram to show off the delicate process she used to turn Cardi’s umbilical cord into a gold-dipped heart pendant. It was part science, part art, and fully sentimental.

Corona explained that she first cleaned the placenta, then shaped the cord into a tiny heart before dipping it in gold. Her caption made it clear how meaningful the work was to her. “Where her journey started… turned into a keepsake she’ll treasure forever,” she wrote, describing the umbilical cord as a baby’s very first lifeline. It’s not every day you see something so biological become something so beautiful, but that’s exactly the kind of magic Corona specializes in.

She added that creating these keepsakes is always special, but doing it again for Cardi and her newborn son meant even more. 

Fans Didn’t Just Approve 

The reaction from fans was instant. “This is so cool!” one follower wrote. Another couldn’t hold back their emotion, commenting, “What a beautiful process to see.” There were plenty of heart and fire emojis, naturally. Social media may not agree on much, but it definitely agreed that this keepsake was a vibe.

This isn’t Cardi’s first sentimental souvenir from childbirth. In October 2024, after welcoming her daughter Blossom with ex Offset, she had her placenta encapsulated. It’s a process many new moms swear by, and Cardi happily joined the club. The star also shares daughter Kulture, 7, and son Wave, 4, with Offset, who’s the same age as Diggs, making this whole family tree the kind of chart that belongs on a pop culture bulletin board.
