Elizabeth Hurley and Billy Ray Cyrus have been making headlines since their romance became public. One of the people who has been on her side from the beginning is her son Damian Hurley. So when headlines popped up that there was a rift brewing, it was a bit surprising.
Last week, The Daily Mail claimed sources said that there is a growing distance between Damian and his mom, as she is spending all of her time with her country bumpkin. But Damian took to his Instagram story to shut it down.
He pointed out that he never usually comments on news stories, but he felt it was time. "I’ve been in the public eye since the day I was born and rarely comment on anything written about me or my family, but recent stories are so startlingly unique that I want to offer a little clarity," he began.
Damian went on to praise her mom's boyfriend and how happy he is to see her happy. "For the record: I adore Billy Ray Cyrus, and think he’s one of the sweetest men I’ve ever met. I love seeing my mom so happy. Billy’s kids are also adorable, and everyone gets along beautifully," he said.
The 23-year-old affirmed, "Any claims to the contrary are yawn-inducing and tediously untrue.” Billy Ray reposted Damian's story on his own page, adding "Love you D man."
Damian, who lost his father Steve Bing in 2020, has been unwavering in his support for his mom’s happiness. Sources told Hello! earlier this year that “Damian loves Billy Ray and is thrilled to see his mother happy and in love.”
Since they went public, he's been liking and commenting on their social posts, sharing photos from visits to Tennessee, and has always made it clear he’s thrilled with the relationship.
The feeling is mutual, too, Billy Ray told PEOPLE back in April, "I do love him a lot. It’s great that God brought them into my life when he did. It’s just a good thing. It’s been a long time since I’ve been this happy.”
Elizabeth and Billy Ray become Country powerhouses
Elizabeth and Billy Ray have been shining on the red carpet, proving that their love is going strong. They recently attended the Annual Country Music Association Awards on November 19 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
The duo even took the stage to present an award. Elizabeth looked incredible in a red long-sleeved, plunging gown, with the "Achy Breaky" heart singer wearing an all black look with a matching cowboy hat.
