Jelly Roll is going through a period of change. The country musician has been open about his weight loss journey, documenting his progress online and with his followers. In a new vlog, he's embracing a new change and captured his daughter's hilarious reaction.
On the vlog, Jelly Roll shared that his body and face had changed significantly after losing so much weight, prompting him to want to know the way his face looks now, underneath the beard that has become his trademark.
"The last time my face was shaved, I was fresh out of jail. I got a feeling I'm going to look like a Ninja Turtle, but I'm going to shave my f---ing face and go surprise my family," he said.
He shared that he'd told his wife Bunnie XO about the change but that he hadn't shared the news with his daughter, who'd never seen him without it. After shaving, with Bunnie capturing it all, Jelly Roll walked into the kitchen where his daughter was, prompting a hilarious and unfiltered reaction.
Bailee Ann, 17, couldn't stop laughing. "Stay over there," she said, as her dad held the camera. "Oh my God, I'm going to cry. I don't like this," she continued, laughing through tears. "You look like a turtle. I don't like this. Oh my God. I don't know if I'm laughing or if this is..."
Jelly Roll kept his face hidden for the first half of the blog, until he revealed it by addressing the camera as he walked outside, in a peaceful-looking open space. "By now, you have probably figured out that I look like a Ninja Turtle," he said. "Um, yeah, this was crazy. You know, one of the reasons I even started growing a beard was cause I was so obese. It was just easier to cover up what was happening here, you know."
Jelly Roll's year of change
Over the past year, Jelly Roll has embraced his health and a new approach when it comes to his weight and his lifestyle. In his most recent weight loss update, he revealed that he's lost 183 pounds, a hard-won achievement that he's been pursuing ever since December of 2022, when he decided he was changing his life.
He's revealed that while he pursues a more active lifestyle now, the real change he's pursued is the way he looked at food, describing it as an addiction that he's had for 39 years of his life.
