On Thursday, November 20, live from the Impact Challenger Hall, the exhibition and convention mega center located in Pak Kret, Nonthaburi, Thailand, Miss Denmark Victoria Kjær Theilvig welcomed Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch to the Miss Universe family.
Who is Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch?
Fátima Bosch Fernández was born on May 19, 2000, in Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico. From a young age, she exhibited a vibrant personality, a deep love for nature, and a strong appreciation for the rich culture of her state. Surrounded by animals during her childhood, she developed a profound sense of compassion and empathy that would later become central to her life’s mission.
At the age of six, Fátima was diagnosed with dyslexia, ADHD, and hyperactivity, which posed challenges in her early education. Nevertheless, through perseverance and determination, she turned these obstacles into strengths, uncovering her creativity and resilience.
At sixteen, Fátima embarked on a year of study abroad in Vermont, USA, an experience that expanded her horizons and helped her improve her English skills. Upon returning to Mexico, she fulfilled one of her childhood dreams by being crowned Flor Tabasco at just seventeen. She subsequently pursued a degree in Fashion and Apparel Design at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, later advancing her studies at NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan, Italy. With a passion for sustainable fashion, Fátima designs creations that revitalize discarded materials, merging artistry with purpose.
In addition to her artistic pursuits, Fátima has dedicated over nine years to volunteering with children facing cancer, organizing an annual Christmas toy drive at the Oncology Hospital of Tabasco. Through her social initiatives, Ruta Monarca and Corazón Migrante, she integrates environmental awareness with humanitarian efforts, supporting migrants and promoting mental health and hope.
In 2025, Fátima was crowned Miss Universe Mexico, proudly becoming the first representative from Tabasco to earn this national title. With her platform, she strives to inspire others to embrace their uniqueness and lead with compassion, firmly believing that true beauty is found in service, kindness, and light.
Her incident with the Miss Universe Director
Bosch found herself in an uncomfortable situation after Nawat Itsaragrisil, the director of the Miss Universe organization in Thailand, asked security to remove her from an event.
The tense episode occurred during a pre-event meeting at the sash ceremony, where all contestants met with the Thai director. During the gathering, Nawat publicly accused the Mexican contestant of disobedience.
In a bold move, Fátima, who recently appeared on the cover of ¡HOLA!, stood up to defend herself after the official allegedly called her “stupid.”
Fátima addressed the media afterward to denounce what she described as mistreatment. “I want to say something to all of you. You know your country has all my respect. I truly love Thailand, I respect everyone, and I think you’re wonderful people. But what your director just did was not respectful.”
Emotionally shaken but determined, Fátima added that the director’s comments were inappropriate: “He called me stupid because he has issues with the organization. I think it’s unfair. I’m here doing everything right, I don’t bother anyone, I just try to be kind.”
Following the incident, ¡HOLA! Américas spoke with George Figueroa, National Director of Miss Universe Mexico, who expressed his full support: “It’s been a powerful moment, but Fátima, with her superwoman personality, has turned this around and made global impact,” he said.
Then, the Miss Universe Organization released an official statement: “Together, we are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of respect, safety, and integrity for all participants, staff, and stakeholders,” the statement read on the contest’s official social media accounts.
The Public Apology
During the welcome ceremony for the 120 contestants, Nawat took the stage and, fighting back tears, he addressed the media: “I want to apologize to everyone. I had no idea how big this issue would become,” he said, visibly emotional as an assistant handed him a tissue.
Despite the drama, Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch has won the 74th annual Miss Universe pageant.
