Michael Douglas is celebrating one of the most special people in his life. In a new post shared on Instagram, Douglas shared an old photo of himself and his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, commemorating their 25th wedding anniversary.
The image shows him and Zeta-Jones early on in their relationship, back when the two first started dating. The photo shows a young Douglas wearing a stylish navy suit that he matched with a colorful button-up and dark sunglasses. His blonde hair is long and styled back, looking handsome and relaxed.
Zeta-Jones looks stunning in the photo, wearing a yellow dress, with her black hair straightened and reaching her shoulders.
"Happy 25th anniversary, my darling Catherine. Who knew? All my love, Michael," he captioned the post. The photo was taken at the 1999 premiere of the movie "The Muse," a year after the two had met. In 1999, the couple got engaged while on a trip to Aspen, Colorado.
In the case of Zeta-Jones, she also shared a sweet post tributing their relationship, including photos of their wedding, the first time they met, and some of their adventures through the years, including car rides, and attending numerous events together.
"25 years ago today, I walked down the aisle," she captioned the post. "The intoxicating aroma of flowers, the glow of the candles, the resounding harmonious Welsh choir and you at the end of the long walk waiting for me, looking at me the way only you can. I love you today as I did then. Thank you sweetheart."
More details about Zeta-Jones and Douglas' relationship
Zeta-Jones and Douglas met at the Deaville Film Festival, while the two were promoting separate projects. According to Douglas, he was in love with her from the moment he saw her in the film "The Mask of Zorro," asking his publicist to arrange a meeting between them. After meeting her by chance, he didn't make the best impression.
"I met her in the bar and was a total gentleman," shared Douglas at "The Jonathan Ross Show," where he remembered some of the questions and comments he made at Zeta-Jones, including asking her to his place for a nightcap, and a comment that she remembered years later. "You know, I'm going to be the father of your children," he told her.
Per Douglas, she said, "You know I've heard a lot about you, and I've seen a lot about you, and I think it's time that I say goodnight."
Years later, when Zeta-Jones was asked about that particular memory and her encounter with Douglas, she said, "You know what the worst thing is? He was right," she said with a laugh in an interview with Access.
