Kate Hudson is giving us major mother-daughter goals. The actress shared a heartwarming photo of herself with her 7-year-old daughter, Rani, capturing a tender kiss before heading out for a press event.
"Monochrome mood," Hudson captioned the photo, referencing her latest fashion-forward press tour look, which included a brown leather jacket paired with matching pants. While Rani didn’t sport a matching leather ensemble, her pink floral pajamas complemented her mom’s look in the sweetest way.
It’s not the first time Hudson has shown off life with her youngest. Just last month, the proud mom posted a video of Rani getting her ears pierced. “You're being very cool right now,” Hudson praised her daughter in the clip. “I love how brave you're being.”
Afterwards, Rani admired her new bling in the mirror, prompting Hudson to gush, “Oh my god, Rani! They're so beautiful. They're perfect.” The moment, shared on TikTok, perfectly encapsulated the bond between the pair.
Rani, born in October 2018, is Hudson’s only child with her fiancé, musician Danny Fujikawa. The couple began dating in 2017, and Fujikawa proposed in September 2021 after five years together.
Hudson describes her daughter as “really special” in an August 2021 Entertainment Tonight interview. “She's just this loving, funny — she's hilarious, oh, my God — and she likes to be funny. You know, she's goofy.”
Rani has already shown interest in cooking, fashion, beauty, and even home improvement, helping her mom with a backyard project in a December 2022 episode of HGTV’s 'Celebrity IOU.'
For Rani’s seventh birthday last month, she posted a video highlighting her daughter’s long blonde hair. “My sweet sparkly sassy silly sunshine girl! You are the light of my life. I love you! Happy Birthday,” Hudson wrote.
A few weeks prior, she shared photos of Rani and her siblings enjoying Halloween at a pumpkin patch, cementing the image of a close-knit, joyful family.
The resemblance between Hudson and Rani is uncanny. Hudson herself noted it in a recent Entertainment Tonight interview, where she watched her first interview at 8 years old. “All I see is Rani, you know, I just see Rani,” she said, smiling.
The mother-daughter similarities extend beyond looks. Hudson describes Rani as having her same flair and particular attention to wardrobe choices: “She's so magical. She's definitely her mother's daughter. It takes her forever to get out of the house. She's very particular about her wardrobe and her clothes and her vibe.”
Rani is the youngest of Hudson’s three children. Her eldest, Ryder Russell Robinson, was born in 2004 with ex-husband Chris Robinson. The couple married in a whirlwind New Year’s Eve ceremony at Goldie Hawn’s home and divorced in 2007, maintaining a co-parenting relationship.
Ryder’s middle name honors Hudson’s longtime partner, Kurt Russell, and he is following in the family footsteps as a musician. In June 2022, he celebrated his high school graduation, and in 2024, he attended the Max Mara Resort show in Venice with his mother.
Bingham Hawn Bellamy, Hudson’s middle child with ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy, was born in July 2011. Hudson and Bellamy met at Coachella in 2010, and she discovered she was pregnant two months later.
The couple became engaged but ended their relationship in 2014. Hudson has spoken about co-parenting with care. “One thing that Matt said to me, which I loved, is, 'I just want to make sure that Bing feels like he's gaining something, not losing something.' I think it's even bonded us closer — me, Matt, Elle, and Danny — because we have to trust that we're protecting each other.”
Bingham has musical talent, plays the drums, enjoys baseball and skateboarding, and even follows the stock market closely. Hudson embraces her blended family with pride. “It might not look traditional from the outside, but on the inside I feel like we're killing it,” she told The Sunday Times in 2022.
“The unit that I've created with three children with three different fathers is a seriously strong unit, and it's ours.” She often jokes about the dynamics of her family. “I've got multiple dads, I've got kids all over the place,” she said in a 2021 appearance on Sunday Today With Willie Geist.
