Wearing a blue, mermaid-style sequined gown, Fátima radiated confidence and charisma, but it was a small detail on her sash that ultimately stole everyone’s heart: a tiny corgi-shaped pin.

The pin is a tribute to her dog Rocco, who passed away this past September. According to reports, Fátima added the pin shortly after receiving the official Miss Universe Mexico sash, and it wasn’t visible in her earlier presentation videos, which made its appearance during the ceremony even more poignant.

She’s been spotted proudly displaying it on several occasions, and she personally shared the emotional significance behind the gesture during a Q&A on the pageant’s social media channels. “I have this little dog pin on my sash,” she explained. “It’s something really personal, because my dog passed away two months ago.”
