Cher will be turning 80 years old on May 20, but she will be the first to tell you that getting older doesn't always mean you're wiser. In a recent interview, the icon opened up about her less-than-favorable opinion about aging and her age gap with her boyfriend, Alexander Edwards.
© GettyThe Academy Award winner has never been one to filter herself. When talking to CBS Mornings, the music legend kept it candid, funny, and honest. Interviewer Gayle King, who is 70, said she didn't have any hangups about aging, and asked if the "I Got You Babe" singer did. Without hesitation, Cher shot back, “Yes, I hate it! I’m 10 years older than you, babe!”
When King pointed out that with age comes wisdom and experience, Cher did not agree. “Oh, I’m stupid,” she quipped. “I’m not wiser.”
© GettyIn a full circle moment, she also reflected on an interview from 1991 with CBS News when she was 45 and expressed that when she turned 75, she wanted to still be "doing the same things I'm doing today, and I don't think I can do that unless I take care of my body."
Over thirty years later, there is no denying she made that reality. "I don't know how to do anything else. What am I going to do? I love what I do," she said.

Earlier in the interview, Cher opened up about her 39-year-old boyfriend, “AE," and why their 40-year age gap doesn't faze him. “He just says, ‘You know, you get older, but your spirit is younger,’” she said. “I think he’s beautiful. He’s really talented — one of the most talented persons I’ve ever met.”
© XNY/Star MaxThe couple first met at Paris Fashion Week in 2022, and despite the online chatter about their relationship, Cher’s attitude hasn’t changed. “Whatever,” she told King. “They’re not living my life. Nobody knows what goes on between us, but we just have a blast.”
She's always stood by her man. Back in 2022, she told Kelly Clarkson, them. “On paper, it’s ridiculous. But in real life, we get along great. He’s fabulous, and I don’t give men qualities that they don’t deserve.”
© CHRIS DELMASThe GRAMMY winner has also been a figure in his son's life. The singer shares a five-year-old son, Slash, with ex-girlfriend Amber Rose. They've attended red carpets together, and she described him as "really cute” and her “close friend."
As for what's next for the couple, there have been rumors that she was open to getting hitched again, but we will have to wait and see. She's been married twice, to Sonny Bono and Greg Allman.
