Did one of the world’s most recognizable couples offer up one of the world’s most recognizable yachts to another new power duo looking to escape the spotlight?
According to reports from Yahoo News, Lauren Sánchez Bezos and Jeff Bezos have quietly offered their $500 million superyacht, Koru, to the new couple, Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau, for a private getaway.
The new Mrs. Bezos, who accompanied Perry on a space flight earlier this year, reportedly introduced the pair and has now extended an ultra-luxe invitation, weeks aboard the 416-foot Koru, trailed by its $75 million support vessel, Abeona.
The arrangement comes as Perry and Trudeau settle into their honeymoon bubble. The couple recently made waves in Paris, stepping out hand-in-hand at the Crazy Horse cabaret during the singer’s 41st birthday celebrations.
Photos of them kissing aboard a yacht off Santa Barbara surfaced shortly after, confirming months of speculation. A source told People that the relationship is “already fairly serious and definitely moving in that direction,” adding that “he’s shown that he’s committed and really cares about spending time with her.”
Privacy, however, has been harder to come by. The singer, one of the most recognizable pop figures in the world, and Trudeau, a former head of state, are no strangers to global scrutiny. That’s where the Bezos yacht comes in.
With a transoceanic range between 5,000 and 7,000 nautical miles, Koru can easily spirit the couple far from prying lenses. The Oceanco masterpiece, with its triple masts reaching 230 feet, includes a helicopter pad, a cinema, a spa, and 24/7 security.
Abeona, the companion vessel, carries a helicopter and crew support, and essential tools for a couple who want to be off the media radar. While Bezos’s yacht has often been portrayed as the ultimate status symbol, it’s also been a stage for love.
The Amazon founder proposed to Sánchez aboard Koru, and they celebrated their engagement on its decks before setting off on their honeymoon.
Trudeau resigned from office earlier this year after a drop in popularity, while Perry weathered a critical backlash to her most recent album, '143.'
Experts see their union as an unexpected but mutually beneficial rebrand. The two also share common ground as newly single parents. Trudeau split from his wife Sophie Grégoire in 2023 after 18 years of marriage, while Perry’s long relationship with actor Orlando Bloom recently ended.
Both have publicly emphasized family and activism, from Perry’s work on LGBTQ and women’s rights to Trudeau’s gender-parity advocacy during his time in office.
