Today marks one of the most anticipated celebrations for children around the world: Halloween. This spooky day has spread across the globe but originated in Anglo-Saxon culture, with the United States being one of the countries that embraces it most. Every year, spectacular decorations featuring traditional pumpkins and candles transform the White House. This year, Melania Trump once again took charge of setting the scene at the presidential residence, and as expected, she chose an outfit that perfectly matches the Halloween ambiance.

Melania Trump’s elegant Halloween appearance

Always elegant and appropriately dressed for the occasion, the First Lady accompanied President Donald Trump to hand out candy to the children. Although neither of them wore costumes, Melania chose to include a subtle nod to the holiday through her outfit. She’s a true expert at using fashion to communicate, pay tribute, and express herself without saying a word. This time, she did not need to acquire anything new; she simply selected an item from her wardrobe and retrieved a piece she initially wore over six years ago.

An original coat that never goes out of style

The star of the look is a luxurious coat we absolutely love, which she wore as a dress. It’s a design by Marni that became a street-style favorite in early 2019 and was seen on several fashion experts attending various Fashion Week shows at the time. The camel-colored wool coat boasts a trench-style silhouette, a shirt collar, and large front buttons. The bold (and perfectly Halloween-appropriate) touch comes from the orange leather details on the pockets and closure.

Another detail we love about this design is the belt—wide and made from the same fabric—which creates a slimming effect that enhances the figure, even while wearing a coat. These kinds of clever pieces, which keep you warm without sacrificing sophistication and are incredibly flattering, are favorites among royals during the colder months, especially Kate Middleton, who has made the coat-dress one of the signature staples of her wardrobe.

Since the coat itself is such a standout piece, Melania chose to skip bold accessories, completing the look only with her signature footwear: pointed-toe pumps with a high, slender heel in the same shade. She wore her hair down in soft, natural waves and opted for makeup true to her style, highlighting her bronzed complexion and accentuating her eyes.
