Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are keeping things lighthearted this Halloween season — even as Lively’s legal battle with her It Ends With Us costar and director, Justin Baldoni, continues to unfold.

On Saturday, October 18, the Deadpool star, 48, posted a cheerful selfie to his Instagram Story featuring himself and Lively, 38, smiling together beside a spooky balloon sculpture by Big Head Balloons.

The Halloween-themed creation — a giant spider made of balloons and mounted to a light pole in New York City — is one of many designs from the company, which describes itself on Instagram as offering “balloon fun in your home or at your event by a NYC original.”

“This is a creation of the wonderful @bigheadballoons,” Reynolds wrote in a previous Story that same day. “Apologies to those who rushed to investigate insane screaming. I didn’t even know if twas me making the sound to begin with.”

He jokingly added, “Also, gentle reminder about how full your hearts felt hearing the news how Ghost Spiders aren’t a real-life problem everyone has to just deal with. The paramedics said the ozone layer is healing. She said nobody talks about that either.”

In the photo, Reynolds wears a beige coat zipped over a yellow shirt, paired with black trousers, while Lively sports a tweed coat and loose, wavy hair — perfectly styled for the fall weather.

The couple’s lighthearted post comes amid Lively’s ongoing legal dispute with Baldoni. The public feud began in December 2024, when the actress accused the It Ends With Us director of sexual harassment, fostering a hostile work environment, and orchestrating an alleged smear campaign against her. Baldoni has denied the claims and filed a countersuit — which has since been dismissed by a judge. Lively’s lawsuit remains active and is scheduled to go to trial in March 2026.

On Friday, October 17, People reported that several of Lively’s It Ends With Us colleagues — including Jenny Slate, Isabela Ferrera, and author Colleen Hoover, who wrote the bestselling novel the movie was based on — have been deposed in the case.

According to the outlet, Hoover recently completed her deposition, while Slate, who played the sister of Baldoni’s character, and Ferrera, who portrayed a younger version of Lively’s character, were questioned over the summer. When Lively first made her allegations public, Slate voiced her support for her friend and costar.

“As Blake Lively’s castmate and friend, I voice my support as she takes action against those reported to have planned and carried out an attack on her reputation,” Slate said in a statement to Today in December 2024. “Blake is a leader, loyal friend and a trusted source of emotional support for me and so many who know and love her.”
