Laguna Beach fans were treated to a nostalgic surprise on Saturday, October 11, when former MTV reality stars Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari appeared together in a photo.

“Everyone can put away their team Lauren and team Kristin shirts now,” Cavallari, 38, joked on Instagram while posing with her Laguna Beach High School classmate.

Fans flooded the comments with excitement over the reunion of the former frenemies.

“We’re fine, everything’s fine 😮 I love this so much ❤️🥹🔥,” wrote Cavallari’s best friend Justin Anderson. Influencer Jade Brandt added, “And the millennial generation is fully healed!”

Cavallari and Conrad weren’t the only Laguna Beach alums spotted in Orange County that weekend. Talan Torriero shared a video featuring fellow classmates Dieter Schmitz, Trey Phillips, and Stephen Colletti.

In September, Conrad confirmed that a Laguna Beach reunion special is officially in the works at The Roku Channel for 2026. “Let’s go back to the beginning…” she teased on Instagram on September 24. “Reuniting the cast of Laguna Beach, coming to the Roku Channel in 2026.”

The upcoming two-hour special will revisit the beloved MTV series, which debuted in September 2004 and chronicled the personal lives of students at Laguna Beach High School.

“When I first pitched the show to my bosses at MTV, never in a million years did I think we would find such a perfect group of real friends,” creator Liz Gateley told Variety. “The show not only changed my life and the cast’s lives, but the series meant so much to a generation of fans who’ve been waiting for this. To partner with Roku to reunite the cast and produce this special with Lauren, Stephen and Kristin as executive producers 20 years later is a dream.”

The reunion between Conrad and Cavallari — who were known for their on-screen rivalry — appears to have come together thanks to good timing.

"We got Lauren on board, which I know is huge, because I know she in the past has not done much. I think the ‘Back to the Beach’ podcast was the first thing she had done,” Cavallari explained on the October 7 episode of her Let’s Be Honest podcast. “So that was very cool.”

Though the idea took some time to develop — with early plans for a Cabo-themed reunion inspired by the cast’s memorable high school trip — Roku eventually gave the green light.

“I don’t know exactly what I can or can’t say,” Cavallari admitted. “No one has told me specifically, but I’ve seen everyone else be pretty vague on social media, so I feel like I should follow suit because I’m typically the one that says too much and then I do get in trouble for it.”
