Aubrey Plaza has great sources of support in her life. On a recent appearance, Plaza was promoting her new children's novel, "Luna and the Witch Throw a Halloween Party," prompting her to send a shout-out to her grandmother, who has provided her with some advice in the moments where she needed it most. Plaza's appearance takes place months after the death of her husband, Jeff Baena, with her previously discussing how she's navigated her grief in one of the most difficult moments in her life.

Aubrey Plaza is sharing some of the helpful advice she's received from her family

Plaza was featured on the Today Show, introducing her book to the show's hosts. “Shoutout to my grandma, Margie,” she said. “She taught me from a very young age that life is a party and no matter what happens, we have to have fun and move forward, and so I think this book was inspired by that.”

“I think on both sides of my family, I have a lot of witchy women that raised me, so this is an homage to all the women in my life,” she added. Plaza's book is her third, co-authored with Dan Murphy. The duo previously published "The Legend of the Christmas Witch" and "The Return of the Christmas Witch."

Over the past year, Plaza has kept herself away from the spotlight. She began reappearing in events and programs over the past couple of months, promoting her most recent film, "Honey Don't!", and the release of her book.

In an appearance on Amy Poehler's podcast "Good Hang," Plaza shared her first candid and open thoughts regarding the death of her husband, likening her grief to “a giant ocean of awfulness.”

“Overall, I’m here and I’m functioning and really grateful to be moving through the world. I’m OK, but you know, it’s like a daily struggle, obviously," she said.

Plaza and Baena were together for over a decade

Plaza and Baena started dating in 2011, getting married a decade later. The two collaborated on multiple films together, including "Life After Beth," "The Little Hours," and "Spin Me Round."

The couple were separated at the time of Baena's death. Plaza and Baena's family shared a joint statement. “We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time," read their message.
