Their Anniversary Messages

Michelle kept her tribute heartfelt and deeply personal, writing: "We’ve been on quite the journey over the last 33 years—and yet, I love you even more today than the day we said 'I do.' Happy anniversary, @BarackObama! I’m so lucky to go through life with you. ❤️"

Barack’s caption, equally swoon-worthy, read: "The best decision I ever made was marrying you, @MichelleObama. For 33 years, I’ve admired your strength, grace, and determination — and the fact that you look so good doing it all. Happy anniversary!"

A Love Story Written in the Stars

The Obamas’ relationship began in 1989 at the Chicago law firm Sidley Austin LLP, where Michelle was assigned to mentor a young Harvard Law graduate named Barack. At first, Michelle brushed off his advances, but soon she gave in.

Two years later, Barack proposed on July 31, 1991, after a dinner date, and by October 1992, they were saying “I do.” Now, 33 years later, they’ve built a life together filled with public service, two daughters, and a love that has never stopped glowing.

Why We Can’t Stop Cheering for Them

What makes the Obamas so magnetic isn’t just their history-making careers; it’s the way they’ve always shown up for each other. Through the highs and lows of politics, book tours, and life in the spotlight, their admiration and respect remain the constant thread.
