Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s wedding on September 27, 2025, was always going to be a pop culture spectacle. With an unplugged ceremony, emotional speeches from Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran, and a guest list stacked with A-listers, it quickly became one of the year’s most talked-about celebrity events. But the internet has zeroed in on one very specific question: Was Francia Raisa, the actress who famously donated a kidney to Gomez in 2017, invited to the wedding?

As of October 1, 2025, there is no official confirmation from Selena Gomez or Francia Raisa about whether an invitation was extended. What we do know is that Raisa did not appear in any coverage of the Santa Barbara ceremony, and her name isn’t on the confirmed guest lists published by other media outlets. Until someone close to either woman goes on record, the invite question remains unanswered.

The Wedding Basics

The September 27 ceremony was a carefully curated affair. According to People, Gomez and Blanco tied the knot in California with a no-phones policy to preserve intimacy. Taylor Swift reportedly delivered an emotional toast, while Ed Sheeran performed a special number for the couple. The guest list included Gomez’s "Only Murders in the Building" co-stars, Hollywood icons, and a wave of high-profile friends. But across all credible coverage, Francia Raisa’s name is absent.

Was Francia Raisa There?

All evidence suggests no. International Business Times noted that fans quickly picked up on her absence, pointing out that her social posts from that weekend hinted she was elsewhere.

On the day of the wedding, Francia shared a video of herself dancing at a completely different location, prompting her followers to ask in the comments section if she was invited.

Why People Care So Much

The Gomez–Raisa friendship is etched into celebrity culture thanks to the 2017 kidney transplant, when Raisa donated her kidney to Gomez during her lupus battle. That act of generosity bonded them in the public eye forever.

Since then, fans and tabloids have dissected their relationship. There have been rumors of rifts and reconciliations, though both women have pushed back against the “permanent feud” narrative. Raisa herself has said there’s “no beef.” But when a life-saving friendship is that public, even one missing wedding invite becomes a storyline.

In 2023, Raisa denied speculation about an alleged feud and opened up about her kidney donation. “No one forced me to do anything,” the 35-year-old actress revealed during her recent appearance on the ‘Good Guys’ podcast. “I just felt it in my heart. I knew it was a match, I knew it was going to happen,” she explained to the listeners.

Francia said that her donation “came out of the genuine kindness of my heart,” and declared that she has “been super blessed ever since.” Adding: “She and I went public with our situation years ago and, honestly, we had to,” she recalled. “As for what’s going on lately, does anyone prep you for this kind of stuff? Never. We never get prepped for this kind of stuff. It always catches me by surprise. I don’t know if it’s good or not.”

In September 2017, Selena revealed that she had undergone a kidney transplant thanks to a friend, actress Francia Raisa, who donated her the organ.

In 2018, Francia discussed with W Magazine her choice to donate a kidney to Selena. She recounted how Selena mentioned she needed “a new kidney” due to her health problems, prompting the actress to get tested. “She was asking me about my day, and she grabbed a water bottle out of the fridge and tried to open it and couldn’t,” she shared. “Then she threw it on the floor, and she fell to the floor and started crying. I was like, ‘What is wrong with you?’ She said, ‘I need a new kidney. I don’t know what I’m going to do, the waitlist is seven to 10 years.’ And it just came out of me, and I said, ‘I’ll get tested.’”
